Newbie Introduction and questions!

Hi Everyone.  I have just begun my journey into WLS.  I have Optimum Choice HMO, so any advice on that would be very appreciated!  I also would like some surgeon recommendations, though I think I have chosen Dr.Schweitzer.  I just started my 3 months of  "2" structured weight loss plans, Weigh****chers online and a doctor prescribed plan.  I would love ANY feedback, especially since my PCP has not given me a plan yet!! Thanks so much. You're doing the right thing -- Research.  And you've come to the RIGHT place, OH!  The folks here are awesome, and so supportive.  I too am using Schweitzer, the man is a lap genius!  I am still awaiting a date, should be in early or mid-July. In the interest of full-disclosure, make sure you check out the DS too.  Good luck on whatever you decide, we're all here for you!  BFH, Nancy 

I have Optimum Choice HMO and everything went absolutely great with the insurance...the referals are a pain in the butt, but it was worth it!!  I went with DVR (Von Rueden at GBMC) and I could not have been happier with my surgeon choice...my husband is starting his program with him too.  If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!!

Thank you so much for your warm response!  And congratulations on your recent marriage, how exciting! Please tell me what structured weight loss programs you did for insurance and how you documented them.  I know this sounds stupid...but am I supposed to try to lose as much as possible for the 3 months on the weight loss plans?  Thanks so much for your time. Von Rueden was my other choice, he looks great on paper!  I will check him out, too.

Jo,  I appreciate your resonse to my welcome, I am already spending so much time here!!  I do have a question...how long did it take Schweitzer's office to get back to you to make an appointment?  I left a message last week, and I have not heard back, yet.  Are you getting so excited for your surgery?!!
