For the past 2 days all I can do is cry, I have this anxiety and I dont know why, I cant pinpoint it, I am having trouble getting in any kind of food or fluid, I cant seem to "sip" or hold down more then 16 oz a day and food wise I am supposed to get 6 meals at 3-4 oz and 2 snacks, I am lucky if I get in a total of 6 oz of food a day total, am I doing something wrong.  I cant get this right and it is personally bringing me down.  I knwo this sounds like a rant but I need help I dont want to cry everyday, and have this overwhelming feeling that I did the wrong thing and I shouldnt have done this surgery.  VIolet

Violet, first, you did not make a bad decision on having the surgery. I am a pre-op but from what I am reading and researching, this kind of feeling you are having is normal. As you lose weight the fat gives off hormones that can affect how you emotionally feel. You shouldn't let it get a hold of you and you should call your doc and see if you need something for that. I can't tell from your post or profile what kind of surgery you had. I would like to suggest to you that you look at some of the concentrated liquid proteins that are out there so you get the amount of proteins your nut wants you to have and it also helps get your liquid requirments in. Are you having trouble keeping things down? Are you staying on the schedule your nut wrote for you as regard liquids, puree's, mushies and solids.

Please don't let your anxiety get the best of you. Call your doc and let him/her know what is going on and speak to the nut. You don't want to get in trouble with not taking in enough liquids. HUGS and good thoughts to you. Loved your son's graduation picture. Jo

Violet, I agree with Jo.  Hang in there, and get meds from the Doc.  Sounds as if there's a little depression involved.  Don't shoot for the high numbers reference intake amounts right now.  Just do your best.  You're a newbie, and believe me, you'll reach the required amounts of protein, vitamins, water, with time.  Just keep in truckin!  I never doubted getting the surgery, but I do remember the "sad" feelings at the beginning and crying at the drop of a hat.  Big hug for you! How far out are you? What type surgery did you have? Sounds to me like you are early out. Don't press yourself. Take you time and it will come. Aime

Oh Violet honey I can totally relate with what you are going through this minute.   When I first had surgery I was crying from the drop of a hat.  I was frustrated because I couldn't get enough liquid, protein or even my vitamins in.  It was really hard on me for the first 2 months.  You are early out so all you really need to do is to stay hydrated. Sip sip sip and walk walk walk.  When I didn't walk during or after sipping my liquids I felt like I was going to get sick.  You are not doing anything wrong.  This is a major alteration that we had done to our bodies and to some of us it will take time for it to get better. I was regretting my decision after having surgery.  It took me quite a while to start feeling better and finally I can tell you that if I had to this again I would definitely jump at it all over again.   It will get easier for you and for me I took a day at a time.   Big hugs and prayers coming your way. I feel so bad for you - I went thru the same exact thing.  Dr Schweitzer did my surgery 7 months ago, and I questioned myself for awhile after the surgery.  I swear you will be so happy when you get a little farther out.  You have to take each day at a time.  Don't worry too much if you aren't getting in the exact amounts of food and protein, it will come.  Just take one day at t atime and do the very best you can.  I think you should call Pat Jordan( Dr. S's nurse practitioner)  and get an appointment with her.  She is very kind and supportive, and she can help you.  I had my checkup with Dr S yesterday and I love him more every time I see him.  This surgery had changed my health and my life.   I will always be so thankful!  If you need to talk, send me a e mail and I will call you.  Hang in there, I promise it will get lots better!!!  Call Pat  ---Hugs, Linda
