Good Monday Morning Everybody!
Good Monday Morning Everybody!
I've been MIA lately as I have not been able to sit at the computer to type anything. I sat here this morning and it feels comfortable so far so I thought I would post. For those who've been on the board for awhile and know me, you know that I've been recuperating from a lower body lift that was done on May 23rd. For those that don't know me, "Hello and Welcome".
I'm not sorry that I had the LBL, but I have to say that recuperating from it has been much harder than recuperating from the lap RNY surgery. I knew that it would be harder and that's why I was dreading it. There is a certain amount of pain involved, but that's manageable. In fact, I haven't taken any pain meds the past few days. The biggest adjustment in recuperating is the feeling of "tightness" and getting comfortable. I feel like I have a very tight belt low on my abdomen and also around the top of each thigh. (For those that don't know, a lower body lift consists of an abdominoplasty, buttocks lift and thigh lift). I have an incision that goes all the way around my body and also on my inner thighs (from mid-back to mid-front of each thigh). My body has gotten over the initial "hit by a truck" feeling and I'm just dealing with the tightness of the incisions. I'm wearing a girdle type compression garment that isn't too bad. I'm healing nicely and I know it'll be worth it in the end. So you may be thinking "Geesh, would I want to do this?" I would do this again in a heartbeat. The change in my body is amazing! My lowest weight post RNY was 196 and I was at the upper end of the range I allow myself when I entered the hospital for the LBL (202lbs). They removed 11lbs of skin. I weighed myself this morning and I'm 190lbs. If I don't lose another lb. I'll be happy. For the first time in my memory I have a flat stomach and can see clear down the front of me. If I lose a few more (up to 15 or so) I'd be happy too. I had an acquaintance from church stop by the house yesterday and she was complimenting me on being so brave to have the RNY and now the LBL. She said she was proud of me. I thanked her and explained that it wasn't a vanity thing, I did the RNY because I felt like I had to because the medical issues were not going to resolve themselves without me doing something about being morbidly obese.
Well, my butt is telling me it's time to get back to the couch (and a more cushy position). I just wanted to update everybody on my progress.
Have a wonderful day!
Glad to hear you are feeling better and recouperating! I had heard that the plastics are a more involved healing period, and it is great to hear from someone who is actively in that phase! When you went for your LBL, how long did they initially tell you that you would be out of work? And is that holding true? I am curious because I think that in a year to 18 months (I am only 3 months out of RNY) I will want to persue this. I am sure you look awesome and feel wonderful! Congrats!
Hi Terry.
It's great to hear from you. You have been missed. I am glad to hear that things are going well. Sounds like you are so far quite pleased with the results. I hope I feel the same way when my surgery is done. It won't be for awhile yet, I just found out today that the doc is really busy and I may not be scheduled until September now. And I might not be given a date until mid July. That's the worst...I would love to have a date now, even in September. Alas, I must exercise patience.
I hope you continue to heal and feel well. Thanks for stopping by and saying hello!
Hugs, Robin
