If you have BC/BS PPO plan what did you do for approval before your surgery?(Did you have ot go to you PCP, Did you have to do a six month diet, Just the basic step)
I had to do the six month diet: but if you can get something from your pcp that has six months consecutive visits during the last two years that specifically reference diet /weightloss and
exercise discussions you can avoid that. If you don't trust me the six months passes very quickly.
I didn't want to wait but I am now one month preop and freaking out because of everything I have to do before surgury date. Take care and Good Luck

I have BC/BS PPO and I had to do the 6 month supervised diet and all the other tests that go along with getting the surgery. I will have completed 4 months of the diet on the 14th. It really does go very quickly and I am just about finished all of my tests.
I have not yet gone to my PCP. I just called the Barriatric Center at GBMC and went to the initial information session. I had already be referred a couple of years ago by my pulmonary doctor because of my sleep apnea.
I do think I should call my PCP and set up something with him. I did not have any actual 6 month supervised diet with him but believe me...we did discuss my weight at every appointment because of high cholesterol and other problems from obesity.
Good luck and don't worry about the 6 month diet. I found I really needed the time for all the testing anyway.
