Hello gang. I went to the Doc last week and gain one pound. She told me not to worry it happens. Because I moved up into food from liquids. I return next week for another appt to see what's what. One of the main reasons I got this surgery is because all else failed. In saying that, since I have been home, I notcie that i can eat and drink anything. In which I have not tried anything heavier then chicken. I can drink any liquids no matter what the sugar content. But I do not drink sodas of any other highly sweet products. But I was in a wedding Saturday and they had Punch, and I drank about 5 cups before I left.( I had a lot of running around to do at the wedding (Hostess)) Question one: What should I be drinking besides crystal light and water. I really like Gatorade and Clearfruit drinks. Question Two: What should I NOT be eating. Like I said I can eat almost anything, and knowing that I can do that, I try alot of stuff. I still eat small portions, and chew really good, but I need to eat what is right to have th maximum effect. I want to be a loser and not a gainer, so you can post here or Please send me a private message, thanks.

Hi, Trust me you are not alone in the scale going upward at times.  It happens to everyone. Before I had the surgery I met with the nutritionist and she gave me a binder with a full explanation of what we can have and what not to have.   I eat 5 to 6 small meals a day and the size is 1/2 a cup each meal.  If I have a salad it can be 1 cup since lettuce becomes almost nothing when you chew it.   I try to stay away from sugar drinks because carbs will only bring more carbs. I add everything I eat to fitday.com so I know that I am getting enough protein and to have an idea how many calories a day I am consuming.  The punch you had has sprite or 7-up in there and quite a bit of sugars. It would be good that when you are out  to take with you bottles of water. I buy the great value brand from walmart instead of Crystal light to me it tastes better.  It has no calories and no sugars.    You can drink all the different flavors I lov ethe apple flavor one it is like drinking apple juice.   Are you measuring your food? Remeber to use small plates too that really helps me. I am sorry I wish I could be more of help.   Keep working hard and you will do great just stay away from sugar that will not let you lose weight.  We can absorb sugar very easily. Hugs,

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Thanks Cira. I had a binder full of stuff too and I can't find it. But I will see the Nutrist. again next week. I saw her last week and sh told me to cut back on the cranberry juice(my fav) I was kinda mad at her because she kept looking at me funny when i was telling her I can eat this and drink that and I can eat more then a cut of food at one time, I wanted to just walk out of her presence. But I listened to her, and she really aint have much to say. Next week I will grill her more, I have a page full of questios. Plus I can't understand why I can eat so much either. Feel like I never had the surgery sometimes.

Hey Yvette - I don't want to be redundant, so I'll just echo everything everyone else said.  I do think it's important to stay on top of the professionals who are supposed to be helping us.  If you're not getting adequate answers from them, keep pushing!!!!

I know you said you like cranberry juice, and like Cira, I drink the Walmart brand of CL - they have a great cran-apple.  And the plain apple is my absolute fave!  In fact, in the winter, I heat it, add some cinnamon and voila! hot cider!!!

Good luck, don't hesitate to ask anything here and hang in there!  Don't forget to measure inches, too - you may see a difference there!

I agree with Cira's advice. I was doing5-6 small meals a day too but now I do usually 4 and I can eat a cup at a time of most things if they are not too dense. I avoid carbs and as much sugar as possible even though it appears I can tolerate it as well. Will you get to see a nutritionist again? They can really be so helpful with the food planning. Good luck!!

Thanks also Callexi. One of the things I told th nutrist. was that I was eating only three meals a day and she was like eat more. Then I told her i was taking two shots of the liquid protein (25g) and she told me to take only one since I am eating food now. Also she told me to get more calories. I thought it was all the calories that make you more hungry and gain pounds. I am so lost and confuse now. I wish I can go back to my other Nutrist. or find her stuff she gave me.
