I have been to my PCP and he ref. me to the Nutr.... She said to keep a 6 Mth diary of what I ate and to come see her after the six mths. I got depressed and never went back. I DID keep a diary tho...I guess it's a 8 Mth diary...So my question is....Do you think I will have to do the whole six months again or should they take the 8 mths I already done? I have to go back and see my PCP to get everything going again....and will be VERY VERY DEPRESSED if I have just waisted another 8 mths of my life. Also I have Tricare Prime if anyone has any input on dealing with them when the time comes....Thanks so much.

I'm sorry you are going threw this. You should have gone back. I am not familiar with that insurance but if they mke you do a diet it is usually supervised but that is usually up to your insurance. Sometimes they take your word for it and your diary. I just had to tell my PCP what diets I have tried in my life and she wrote a letter to the insurance and it was sent with all my other paperwork.  Have you looked into a surgeon yet? I would look into that and make a consultation with a surgeon. Your PCP will only say weather or not they think this is a good surgery for you. The surgeon gets you to fill out your paperwork and everything and they send it out. They may ask your PCP to write a letter saying she/he thinks you are a good candidate but hats it. So reasearch some surgeons and make appts, they fill up quick. If you need any info this is the place to come. Dont hesitate to ask. Keep us posted Kelly

I am so sorry that you are going through depression and all.  I don't have an answer to your question but I wanted to tell you to call and ask just to know.  I totally agree with what Kelly told you. Find a surgeon go to their information session and make a consultation.   What docotr are you planning to see?  I would get everythign on road as quickly as possible so that you do not lose anymore time.   Are you in Baltimore?  I had my surgery at GBMC and their number is 443-849-3779  I live in Odenton and it takes about 25 to 30 minutes to get there. If you have any more questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Take care

I have no clue on which surgeon I'm gonna see. All I know is the Dr. has to be Tricare provider. I'm not sure if I'll get to pick the Dr or not. I thought that they just ref. U to a surgeon when it's time. I tried to get some info from Tricare and the website and they wouldn't tell me anything that I didn't know already. I know my PCP will help all he can. He was very happy that I wanted to do this before. I just get VERY depressed and I'm scared I'm gonna give up again. I think if I hadn't found this website that I wouldn't even bother with it anymore. I'm really glad that I did find it tho. You people are great....so full of info and willing to help others....thank you

Talk to your Primary care also. They may have documentation of your attempts at wl.  I'd like to 2nd the great program at GBMC. I had my surgery there also. Maybe you need to call the various programs to see if they accept your insurance. I'd do that myself. I always like to take matters into my own hands. Good luck!!!
