Hi everyone. I am originally from Maryland, but now reside in PA. I still work in Maryland and will be having my surgery (as long as I'm approved) in Maryland. Is it okay if I visit this board?

Sandi! Welcome...and of course. There are folks that have never lived in Md nor did they have surgery here, taking part. Since you are so close you might get a little more out of it than some non-Marylanders, but everyone is welcome. In general, the forum topics are just a way to organize things and let people talk to those with a common interest. There is no restriction on who can and can not post to a forum. Again, welcome and let us know how your journey progresses! Dave

Thanks so much. I am just at the beginning of my journey. I have done lots of research, and have gone to the information session, and now I am waiting for my first consult appointment with either Dr Von Rueden or Dr Moen at GBMC.

Hi Sandi, Welcome to the MD forum. Like dave said there are no restrictions and you can post where you feel happy at. I have to say you had your info session the same place I did. I had Dr. Von Rueden and he is an awesome doctor. Dr Moein is great too! I want to wish you all the best in your joiurney. Does your insurance require you to do the supervised weight loss visits? Take care and keep us poste on your progress.

Welcome, I live so far west (Cumberland) it is like I am in a different state!

My trip to Cumberland was fantastic Sunday. All the Rhotodendren in bloom along with the other flowers- gorgeous. I had to stop at the flowr stand in LaVale before I headed home to get some more plants for my garden. I want to go back already. We ate lunch at the Crabby Pig. I must say from the first time I was there I wasn't that impressed with the servie or the food. Mom enjoyed her birthday lunch anyway.

Hi Cira,

Thanks for the well wishes. My insurance does require the supervised weight loss, but I'm not sure for how long. I guess I will be finding all of that out when I go for my first consult.

From the information session, I did like both doctors, they seem like they are really there for their patients.

Hi Sandi - Welcome to the wacky world of the Maryland board!!!! I had my surgery in August of 2005 with DVR. I just love him!! I had literally no complications, and am so happy I did it. Minus 140 pounds, too!!!! Give or take!! Anyway, although I don't know Dr. Moen well, I've spoken at several of their info sessions and he seems just as kind, caring and competent as DVR. You'll be in excellent hands!! Feel free to join us often, and keep on the lookout for our get-togethers!! Fire away with any questions, concerns, etc!!! Teresa (Tia)
