Bad time at Doctors office!

this is actually from yesterday..... So today I had my first fill scheduled for 3:30.  I get to the doctors office at 3:00 just in case they can take me early.  Of course they don't, they took me at 3:45.  First I meet with the nutrionist and I have lost 18 pounds ok, that's great.  But she doesn't think it's too great.  She says "Usually by now patients have lost more."  Ok I was feeling good about my loss.  Then she asked me about my diet.  I tell her I am eating about 1400 calories a day and she looks totally surprised and said "That's a lot to be eating so soon."  I told her that I am only eating when I am hungry.  So she says "Tell me what you are eating"  I mention that I am able to eat about 1.5 cups of pureed chili.  She almost falls out of her seat after that. "You shouldn't be able to eat that much yet."  I said "Well I'm hungry".  She goes on to say "RNY patients...."  I said "I'm not RNY, I had the band."  "Oh" she says "That makes sense."  She goes on to tell me that the receptionist checked the wrong box on the sheet that she was looking at.  So that kinda of pissed me off but I laughed it off.   Ok so the doctor comes in ready to do my fill.  He is feeling around, numbs me, and sticks me I couldn't tell you how many times and guess what, he can't find the port.  So he tells me to come back in two weeks and we will try it under flouro.  Ok that's fine.  So when I get to the receptionist desk she says that the next appointment that is available is June 22.  So I am supposed to go a whole month without a fill???  Actually two months because I had my surgery on 4/20.  So I ask if one of the other surgeons can do it. She goes to ask my doctor but he is in with another patient and she says that she will have to call me and let me know and that she will call this afternoon.  I know the office is close now and still no call.   And to top this all off.  After my docs office I was supposed to be meeting with a headhunter for a position that is very close to my home.  Right now I drive an hour to work each day.  While I'm in the docs office she calls me to tell me that the company that she is recruiting for has decided to hold off on filling the position right now.   To make a long story short I took off a whole afternoon to find out that I lost 17 lbs.  What's the bright side???

Hi, It is sad to read the trials you had to go through, but I think 17 pounds is excellent (HUGE HIGH FIVES). The office seems to be in the midst of big changes and growing quickly. We have to hope things get better and settle a bit with time. I've been working on getting a date for my surgery and the hurdles seem to go on and on. Neither of us is giving up, right? First off Congrats on your 17 pounds that is awsome and you should be proud. I would try to see a different nut when you go back. Your doc should of tried to find your port so you could get your fill. I wish you the best and you should be very proud of your weight loss. As the posotion goes I am kinda in the same boat. I just opened my Home daycare and have had 3 interviews scheduled and 2 never showed and one called an hour before and canceled. Very hard to go threw. But things happen for a reason and you will find a closer postion soon. Good Luck Kelly

First....great on the 17 pounds gone! That's an extra 17 pounds you aren't carrying around on your body anymore! Second...I know it's hard when you have a day like you did to see any kind of bright side. I'm sorry to hear that your doc's office seems to be a bit unorganized at this time and I can only hope that it'll be better the next time! Keep on the office people, call them tomorrow when they open and see if they can get someone else to do your fill since you know you will need it before the end of June.  Hell, cry if you have to! LOL I had RNY so, no, I cannot relate to the LB frustrations you are feeling but in the grand scheme of things we are all on the same side and we are all Losers! LOL I do feel for you and know it will get better!   Hang in there and let us know what happens! Hopefully you'll be able to find another company to work for that is closer to home! I can relate to the long commute! I do an hour each way every day and know just how tedious it can get!!! Take care! Heather

Congratulations on losing 17lbs!!! That is fantastic.    You should be quite proud of that.  We all know that losing weight is not easy.  Don't forget how hard it was for you to lose weight, which is probably one of the main reasons you had surgery.  If it takes that long to do the fill, you will just have to be very careful not to go over 1400 calories a day and to pick up the exercise so that you can lose weight while you wait for the appointment or at the very least maintain your loss.   As for the job, I am a firm believer in if it is God's will and plan for your life then it will happen, if not then the door will be closed.  I will be praying for another door to open for you to find work closer to your home.  Those commutes can be very taxing so I know that you are anxious to get another job.  It will happen.  Keep searching, placing applications and we will all be praying with and for you.  Hang in there. Hugs, Robin

Dear Kali, Congratulations on the 17 pounds!!  That is awesome. You know how hard it was for us to lose weight before we had surgery. That is an amazing accomplishment.   I am sorry Sloan was confused with the fact that you had a LB or RNY.  I do suggest that you stay in contact with Sloan so she gets to know you.  I call her whenever I have a question and you can also contact her by email.  They see so many patients that it is hard to remember who had what.  I am sorry you are not getting fill until then. Ask them to put you on a cancellation list so maybe you can get it done sooner.   Try to keep your calorie intake at 1,400 and increase your fluids and exercise so you can still lose or maintain your weight.   I was wondering why I saw new faces when I went in the other day.  I just thought that Cynthia and others were on vacation.  I have never had an issue with the staff.  If they don't get you your answers asap call Dr. Von Rueden that is his office and he will crack his whip.  He does not like people to slack off trust me I have learned that about him. I am sorry you were not able to ge that new position.  i truly believe that everything happens for a reason.  Maybe that new position was not going to work out for you and something better will come a long. Commuting is never easy.  My husband commutes to Va each day 1 hour each way and that is without traffic.   I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and look at the bright side "You are 17 lbs lighter" Hugs to you!

I do have an update.  I was worrying them to death and they are able to get me in next week.  I am very happy about that.
