I had my third appointment with my doctor office.  The nurse that helped me stated they have not received my test results.  I have done the blood test, psy, upper gi,chest xray, cardiologist test and they have not receive my results. I am little upset b/c they want me to see another psy doctor.  I can't keep taking all this time off. If the doctor office can't get my results.  How are they going to do with my surgery.  Has anyone gone through this message.  Oh They advised me to get my own test results and bring them with me the next visit.

The hardest part that I have endored so far was just getting copies of my medical records.  From one doctor it took 6 months and I had to request then twice.  Hang in there.

After each test I had done...I would wait about 3 days and call the surgeon and find out if they got the results.   If not, I would ask how long I should wait.    Sometimes they would say that they should have gotten them or they would say, "give it another 3 days".    Of the tests I had done, only one got to the surgeon without a call from me.    I would call the office that did the test and request that they get the results to my surgeon and also mail me a copy.   When I got my copy in the mail, I would call the surgeon and confirm that had gotten their copy.   If they had not, I would fax them the results I got. Don't be afraid to call the office where you had the procedure and request that they send out the results.   Sometimes things just get lost, other times they are just not on top of things.   In any case, if you take control it will show your surgeon that you are serious.

Stick with it.   If you like the surgeon you picked, then work with the staff to make sure everything gets done and gets done correctly.

Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa , a lion wakes up. It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Hi Vanessa, Interesting, we have the same surgeon and similar "test result" issues. For me it was the chest x-ray missing and 5 minutes later we see a white spot please go get another x-ray. The good news is GBMC radiology is 24/7 so no work time missed. I feel for you though. Mice in a maze. There are also some office personnel changes in progress with new people learning the routine. Here's hoping for fast learners. I  can recommend Kimberly Cook with Magellan Services for a psyche eval. She was great if somewhat new.  Thanks for the comradery, Mark

I had some of these issues with my pshc eval. They dont understand how important these tests are to us and to them it's just another day in the office. Hope they get them quicker Best of luck Kelly

I have been known to stand in front of someone's "face" until they gave me the item I desired. If you need, go to the testing office and demand a copy of your results. I can say I never had a problem with getting my results to my surgeon. Dr. von Ruedin who is in the same office as yours. They got them all in time for my surgery date.

I was very fortunate in that all of my pre ops went relatively smoothly. I took a Friday and a Monday off work and had everything done on those days, including a  sleep study that Sunday into Monday.  The psych eval, ironically the first thing I had done at 8 am on Friday was the last report they got. But I could tell by  how that office was run they would be a problem. That's why I left with the office manager's card, and I had no problem calling her a week later and asking that they fax the report that day.  I had my pre ops done Feb 9 - 12, and surgery was March 6th.

I swear Drs are all alike.  I had to fax one office three times to get the paperwork: and then got it because during a visit to DVR I left his office and called the Dr. in question and said:  I am at GBMC will be in your office in the next 15 minutes:  please have it ready:  I then retraced my steps to DVR's office.  You have to be presistent that is for sure.  As others have advised: get a copy of every test result.  I have a little portfolio ( gets bigger every month LOL)  with every piece of paperwork related to this whole process.  The phys evaluation did take a while ot get a copy faxed to Dr. If you do need another phsy evaluation call. Ranessa Mcnally.  She is a sweetheart.  She's had the surgury herself and she has been a great help.  The best part is she has evening hours.
