Hello Everyone! I am new to this forum. My husband and I both had gastric bypass surgery last year. Him Oct 19 and me Nov 8 2006 at GBMC. It has been a blessing we look like new people and so many things in our life are new and exciting. He has lost 130lbs and me 90lbs. I am looking for advice and I suppose some support. We have not gone to any support groups and I am going downhill. I don't know what to do. I fell I am a bad influence on my husband as well. I realize i can have more sugar than I should and that I can eat more than I should. I also can drink while eating and can eat things like junk food same as before. I also have had all this stress at my new job and started smoking again. I have not had any problems so far but I see my weight loss starting to stop. Today I called curves and reupped my membership. We are moving in a few months and I want to get back on track. Any suggestions? Is there anyone who works out at curves in Owings Mills and would like a workout partner? Thanks for the help Kendra

Kendra, So sorry you are going through this. I cannot offer any advice or help as I have not yet had surgery. This is one of my biggest fears regarding WLS. I am in therapy trying to deal with my overeating issues. I will also continue after surgery. I will need it more than ever then. Have you ever gone to Overeaters Anonymous? I use to go there but now I go to Alanon for other reasons. Same kind of program, but I do not have time for both. Maybe planning your menu for the day in the morning or the night before could help you. I always have a problem if I go through the day not knowing what I am going to eat that day. It usually ends up in grabbing something quick that I should not be eating. I already belong to The Maryland Athletic Club and I do not live too close to Owings Mills but  Curves should help a lot. Also, if you ever want to chat on the phone I will give you my number. Hang in there Gail

First welcome to the MD boards. And congrats on your weight loss that is awsome. Maybe you should go talk to your nutritionist about the eating. Maybe they can help you. Junk food and fast food were my enemys and now I dont let them be. I have a support group in Crofton, It may be fat for you but your welcomed to join us. Our next meeting is Tuesday May 29th from 6-8 p.m. You can get alot of great advice from a group of great people. It is held at the Crofton Library. If you go on the Librarys website you can get there address and directions. Best of luck to you Kelly

Kendra, Hang in there! You have both been through way too much to give up now!   I realize I am under 3 months out and still so excited. I hope I can say something to help you and your husband here!  Dave (on this board) and I are working to put together a support group that will meet in Westminster. That isn't too far from Owings Mills (I work in Woodlawn and drive it daily). We would love to have you!!!   Our first meeting is Wednesday June 27th in a meeting room at the library on Main St, Westminster, from 6 to 7.  Our topic is "packing in your proteins", but I am sure we will spend some time on introductions and just hearing one another's stories!  Please consider that if it may help!   Does your program at GBMC have a nutritionist that you can get back in touch with and get sample menus from?  I understand work stress, but you deserve to put you first!

Hi Kendra! I also had my surgery in October. DVR was my life changing surgeon. Sounds to me like you need to call Sloane at the office to get yourself back on track. I also started smoking again. i am trying to quit again as I type. Week 2 of chantix. Stick around. If you can't make the support groups that take place in various places, you will have daily suport right here.
