If you have not been following the posts on The Cow in Reistersterstown, this will make no sense...but feel free to read on anyway... For those that were interested, I am doing some sidewalk astronomy at The Cow in Reisterstown.   This basically means that I show up with my telescope and let anyone who is interested take a look at whatever we can see.    Since this place is lit up pretty well (not condusive to astronomy), we will be looking at bright things like the moon, saturn, venus and later in the summer jupiter.   I will also have safe solar viewing until the sun sets.

Here are the dates and times that are being advertised:

Saturday, May 26th (this Saturday) from 7-11pm Friday, June 8th from 7 - 11pm Wednesday, June 20th from 6 - 10pm Saturday, June 23rd from 7 - 11pm These dates are all weather permitting.   In a nutshell, if it is not actively raining, I will be there.   If it is cloudy, I will just be talking about the scope and handing out literature. If you do come out, while I am there, please stop by an introduce yourself.   It is always fun to put a real face with the digital ones we see here! Thanks,

Dave
Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa , a lion wakes up. It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Do you know of the little area of Mt. Savage known as Slabtown? My mom has either the first house going towards Frostburg or the last going towards Mt. Savage. We moved there in 1970. She was a professor at Frostburg State in the English Dept. until she retired about 5 years ago. I went to a few of the highschools there also. I graduated (kind of) from Bishop Walsh in August of 73. I went to Frostburg as well. I played around a few years and completed my BS in Education from there in 1979. that i when I moved to this area on a temporary basis. I lived in Reisterstown until about 6 years ago when I moved over to the Catonsville side of town. I am over in Reisterstown/Owings Mills all of the time. I teach driver's ed over there. Now that you have a life synopsis LOL....

Holy "Cow"-li-leo, sweets AND stars. I hope to make one of those stardates. You guys are a great support system and I'd like to meet some of you. Hope I didnt mangle the name of the father of modern astronomy too badly. Mark, who often lurks in the sugar free aisle these days.
