Watermelon?
I have a very vague list of foods that I cannot have. But I have eaten watermelon both last night and tonight with dinner (very small portions). Should I have eaten this? I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE fruit, and watermelon is one of my favorites. I didn't have any issues with it last night, but I just didn't know if anyone on here was told to steer away from it.
What fruits have you all had issues with? Was anyone told to steer clear of any fruits in the beginning stages of their diet?
Thanks
Kelly G.
Hi Kelly,
Hope you are doing well. I have been living off fruits, they taste soooo good. My favorites are watermelon, strawberries, and cantalope. The only ones my doctor said to stay away from in the beginning were citrus fruits and fruits with skins and seeds. I had apples too just peeled the skin. I have never had any issues with fruit or any food that I've eaten and I've been on regular food for just over 2 weeks now.

Hey Kelly,
Watermelon and fresh ripe peaches are my favorite. I have been eating watermelon for about 3 or 4 weeks now. I have been getting the pre-cut, pre-packaged stuff from Giant.
The only fruit my nutritionist said not to eat was pineapple. The acid in it can cause some pain to your pouch (RNY) and it was also a no-no for the laps as well...not sure why.
One other thing they told us to stay away from was hard skinned fruit. Like apples. Anything with a hard skin was to be peeled and the skin discarded. Not a problem...I don't really like the skin anyway.
The only problem with fruit (for me) is that it takes up room, has more calories than I want, and has almost no protein. So I have a square or two of watermelon when I just can't stand another sip of water or crystal lite.
I can't wait for Maryland peach season to get here. I hope, by that point, that I will be able to eat a small one!

Hi Kelly
I was told just about the skin, No skinned fruits. But I have had bananas, watermelon, pineapple, grapes and my new favorite thing is strawberries with splenda sprinkled on them. Good afternoon snack on a warm day. If it doesnt boter you ten keep having i****ermelon is easy to mush in your mouth so it should be good.

Hey...you're down in my neck of the woods
I love fruit too...just be careful. Fruits have a lot of carbs and you can dump off of them I have a BAD habit of consuming too much fruit and before I know it DUMP CITY..only I can't throw up...I'm just miserable until the nausea, sweating, and cramps subside.
