Calling on Marylanders
Good Morning everyone. I have a good friend and co-worker that is a Breast Cancer Survivor. She sent me this email about an event occuring in AA County to support Cancer research. It is called the Relay for Life. I am copying her email here. I asked her if I could post this information in order to help her gain more support and I could think of no better place than right here. Let's all support Flo if we can.
Relay For Life
The event is June 15th.
As you may know, I am a breast cancer survivor. In an effort to give
something back to the community I have participated in several events to
support women who have been diagnosed with cancer and are going through
treatment.
The latest event is in our own back yard. The South County Relay for Life
on June 15 at Southern High School in Ann Arundel County, is a team relay
event with the goal of keeping at least one member of the team walking on
the track from 6pm to 6am.
You can help by coming to the event , either to walk , give logistical
support or by providing a donation.
The organizers of this event have provided a little web space with more
information and a space to donate or sign up for my team, Half Way to Five
(named to reflect my progress to 5 cancer free years ) and it can be found
through the link at the bottom of this E-mail.
FYI here is the information from the Relay For Life (RFL ) website .
Relay For Life is an overnight event that brings our community together
to help support the American Cancer Society and its lifesaving mission to
eliminate cancer as a major health problem. The Society works hard every day
to prevent cancer and save lives by supporting groundbreaking research,
affecting public policies that protect us from cancer, and educating people
on how to prevent or detect cancer early. The Society helps people with
cancer right here in our own community. And our efforts at Relay For Life
can help the American Cancer Society to keep working toward a cancer-free
future.

Aime,
I am familiar with Relay for Life. I have several friends here at work who have participated in past years. There are a number of gals who are either breast cancer survivors themselves or have a friend/family member who is.
My sister in law in Wisconsin had surgery just last week and we have strong hopes that she will also be a survivor.
Hugs, Mo
Relays are wonderful events! I have participated in 3 at McDaniel College in Westminster in honor of my father - I lost him to pancreatic cancer 2/7/04 (only 9 weeks after diagnosis). This year (just 2 weeks ago) my 10 year old son took his saxophone and played "songs for Pop Pop" on the track for 2 1/2 hours with a donations sign - he raised $67 for the ACS!!! They can be fantastic family events, honors, and serve such an important purpose!
