Hi Jen, Personally, I use EAS Advantage or Designer Whey that I buy in bulk at either Sam's Club or BJ's. I mix it with some crushed ice, water, instant decaf coffee, non-dairy creamer, equal and shake it up. By the time I get to work I just shake it up a bit more and it's completely disolved and ready to drink. I think it tastes like an iced coffee drink from a Starbucks kind of place. Keep in mind that many people find that their tastes change after surgery and things (i.e. protein mixes) that they liked pre-op they don't like post op. I didn't have a problem with the protein powder but I know many who have. Best wishes on your WLS journey. Hugs, Mo

OK Mo...I need a little more info here. Do EAS or Designer Whey come in flavors? If so...which one do you prefer? If not...which of these two do you prefer? Now...what ratios do you use for the stuff you add? I can figure out the sweetener and maybe even the right amount of ice...but how much coffee, water and creamer do you use? Is the taste of the protein masked pretty well? Sorry for all the questions...and I know it will be a while before you get back from Charlotte...but I am dying to try this one! Thanks, Dave

Never mind...wow.    I went ahead and improvised.

I used one teaspoon of instant coffee.  1 1/2 scoops of EAS Chocolate powder (about 34g of protein).   About 8 oz of water.  Some non-dairy creamer.   A shot of Hazelnut SF syrup.    About 4 packets of equal and then filled the cup (about 16 oz) with crushed ice.   I shook it until the coffee disolved. You win! If you like coffee drinks (like frapacinos) you will love this.    Nice work MO.    Any other recepies you care to share with us????? :-) Thanks, Dave

Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa , a lion wakes up. It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Hi Jen, Even though I am still in the Hoop Jumping process, I started drinking "ADVANTEDGE". The chocolate is better than the vanilla. Also heard "DESIGNER WHEY" is pretty good. Haven't tried that one yet. I get my ADVANTEDGE at Walmart for about $4.97 for a pack of 4. Hope this helps. Good Wishes! Kristy

Hi Jen, I use the EAS Advantage, but I must say that it is better if you let it dissolve for a little while before drinking it. Just after surgery, I had a hard time with it and almost had to gag it down, but now I find it a little more tolerable. I am going to take Mo's advice and also try the Designer Whey. I almost got some at BJ's the other day so I am glad that she likes it. At GNC they also sell a liquid protein that I had to my crystal light drink. It is kinda thick like cough syrup, but overall it doesn't taste too bad and it is a quick 18g of protein in 3 Tbs.

I have the EAS Chocolate which I mix with a cup of soy milk, add some vanilla, 1 pkg of splenda and frozen strawberries. I also have the GNC vanilla which I mix with 1 cup of soy milk, banana, frozen strawberries, or peaches or pineapple. Takes me an hour to drink that -- I mix it in a blender.

Yes!! try,the "Nectar" brand. I love the Lemon Ice tea. Taste just like the lipton powdered tea in the can. The orange flavor is so-so, but I'm so lovin' the Tea. It's 23 grams of protein per scoop. I got it at the Vit. shoppe store. $30 per for 2lbs. but it last several weeks though. They have several other flavors too, I almost tried them all. Good Luck, on your journey to find the right "protein" supplement!! Peace. jbug. Let us know what you come up with!!

I have used is Adkins Advantage as well as Matrix. I think I prefer the Matrix. Another good source is Carnation Instant Breakfast.

Hi Jen, My nutritionist recommended AnyWhey powder to start. While it smells like vanilla it does not taste that way. It has sort of a ...well..."brown" taste. I don't know how else to describe it. It does not go well in anything sweet. But...you can cook with it. It does well when it is mixed into pre-cooked soups (cream based) or mixed (but not yet set) puddings. It can also be added to things like mashed potatoes or muffins. I don't use it much anymore. I have switched over to Nectar. I use either the Cherry or Peach (Fuzzy Navel) flavors. I put 2 strawberries, a couple of blue berries in a cup and just cover it with fruit punch crystal lite. Then I put it on the magic bullet (any blender will work****il it is all liquid. Then I add about the same volume in crushed ice and put it on the blender again until it is like a slushie. In another cup, I put 1.5 scoops of the Nectar and enough crystal lite to cover the powder and mix it up until it is all liquid (don't put it on the blender or it becomes foam). I then pour the Nectar into the slushie and mix it up with a spoon. Tastes like a fruit smoothie. I actually do two of these a day. I get the powder from Vitamin Shoppe for about $30 for a 2lb container. You can find it on-line (in bulk) for about $20 a container. Now...I have just found that I can tolerate coffee again. So I am going to try Mo's recepie above. I will let you know how it goes! Best of luck and remember...everyone has different tastes...especially after this surgery. Take your time and try a bunch of things. If you contact the companies, and explain what you are doing, many of them will send you samples (usually for the cost of shipping or sometimes for free). Let us know what you find... Dave
