Back Pain?

Just wondering if anyone has experienced back pain after surgery? I have been having a lot of lower back pain lately. I have an appointment with my surgeon Tuesday so I'm going to talk to her about it. I walk on the treadmill almost every day and I just started back to work this week and am on my feet a lot so I'm thinking that may have something to do with it. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Hi Jamie I would ask your surgeon but maybe it is from standing on your feet. Plus you have been off for a month and probably sitting down. Hope your appt goes well. Try a heating pad until then, that might help

My October 2006 forum all started to notice back pain at about the smae point out. We realized that with the weight loss we weren't used to NOT carrying so much around. Ask your doctor anyway. but it could be time to learn how to stand and sit again. Aime

Jamie, It could be many things, but most likely just your body adjusting to the new you. However, definitely talk to your surgeon. In my case, I lived with back pain at 400 pounds and was too large for an MRI table. When I finally lost all the weight, I felt great, but then one day triggered something in my back. I ignored it for a few days, thinking that it was just the normal pain that I've always dealt with. Well, when I finally saw a doctor, they did an MRI and I found out that I had three herniated discs. I'll probably need surgery a few years down the road, but for now the pain is manageable since we actually found the cause. Whatever you do, don't wait to talk to your doctors! Good luck! Jay

Jaime, I had a lot of lower back pain for about a month and it was painful to sit. But it is all gone now and I am feeling great. I hope yours goes away quickly. You standing so much everyday definitely contributes to it. Try putting moist heat for 20 minutes the 2 hours later ice it down and alternate until it is better. hugs, Cira

I'm having a lot of back pain as well. My Dr. told me that it is my body adjusting to the weight loss -- he also said that as we lose the weight we will find a lot of little aches and pains that we may not have had before, as a result of carrying our weight differently. Mine started with lower back pain... but now I'm having pain in my upper back, between my shoulder blades. Hope it gets better for you. I'm still dealing with horrible indigestion Kelly G.
