Hello, Can anyone recommend a good self tanner. I have never used one before so it needs to be easy and goof proof. I used to have acrylic nails for years. I took them off last year. I was thinking of getting them again and was maybe interested in the new (well new to me) pinks and whites. Does anyone have them? Are they thinner then regular acrylics or the same? How do they fill in the white french part? Do you have to have them filled every two weeks? Can you put a color over them with no problem and remove color with no left over residue? Do you have a shop you like that might not be too far from me? Thanks for the help, Wanda

Hi Wanda I'm not sure about the self tanners I dont use them. Thankfully one day in the sun and I turn brown. As far as nails. If you mean pinks and whites to be like you have apermanent french manicure i have those. They are just white tips instead of clear. You can put colors over them but not light colors because they white will show and the dont stain. I just had mine redone the other day because I cut them down and the white part started to dissapear. I go to a place in annapolis called Nails W. I have been going there for years on and off then my lady near my house left and i went back to nails W. My mom goes there too. It is also a salon called Salon Unlimited. If ou get directions use the salon name not the nails w name. The number is 410-573-1629 and the lady is Tracey. The other lady there is good too she does my eyebrow wax and pedicures when I get them but tracey does my nails. It's a great shop. Tell her Kelly sent you.

Wanda~ I have mine nails done with the pink and white. My fills are actually done with pink and white acrylic. She uses the power tool thingy to buff down the existing white and the part that has 'grown' out and then fills with white and the upper (pink) part of the nail is done with the pink acrylic. I love being able to get up and walk out of the shop with them and not have to sit and let polish dry. I could sit for 20 minutes letting my nails cure and then STILL mess them up getting into the truck I am sure that the places in Arundel Mills must do pink & white or the Permanent French. It is a little more expensive than regular acrylic because it's more labor intensive for them but I think it's worth it. I've never put color over mine. For the self tanner thing .. how about some of those moisturizer creams that give you a glow over time? I did the self tanner thing a few years ago and got some funny streaks .. I wasn't even in putting it on .. even though I thought I was .. Hugs, Mo

No clue about the nails, but I do know a few people who use the self-tanning cream. Not sure what type, but the resulting "tan" is really a weird color. Kind of orangy! I can always tell. Hope you find something that is more natural looking. Best of luck! TraciL

I don't know any of the technical terms. I am actually new to the "beauty" aspect of things. Being an old "hippie" chick, I never wore make up much or did more than bite my nails. Now I go every 2 weeks to a small shop near me in Catonsville. I only allow one person to do my nails and one to do my feet. I love the results. I don't bbite my nails anymore. Aime

Thanks guys. The shop I used to use is doing pink and whites now. The girl I had for years just left and with them just starting the pink and whites makes me wonder how good they are at it. Do you find you can go longer then two weeks before the fills? I think the shop I went to is charging $40.00 for a new set and like $20 or $25 for a fill, for P & W Does that sound about right? Thanks again. Wanda

Wanda, I have my fills done every 2 weeks and it is $40 for a full set and $30 for fills. I could probably go 3 weeks, but I find that right at the 2 week mark I'm ready and I'm two week schedule .. it's just easier for me that way. If you don't like the way they do them, you can always switch to another place. Hugs, Mo

Wanda, I just started wearing "Jiffy Tan". Google it and you can find out more about it. I don't think you can buy it in the stores. They use to sell it on QVC. I put it on once and people said that it looked so natural. It doesn't stay on as long as some other self tanners because it is actually a moisturizer with a color tint. Gail
