Follow-up frustration!

My one year follow-up with Dr. S has been scheduled for 6 months. Today, I receive a call saying that my appointment is being cancelled and that I have to call Monday to reschedule! UGGGGHHHH!!! This is the second time his office has cancelled an appointment. I guess it's one of the drawbacks of having a popular surgeon? I could probably get in to see Pat at the Bayview clinic, but I was really looking forward to talking with Dr. S about the excess skin and hernia issues. The appt was May 21, which means that now it will probably be June or July! So aggravating!

Hi Jay, Sorry to hear you are having a problem getting in to see Dr S. I am amazed at how the 'Baltimore' doctors are with seeing patients themselves. I traveled to Salisbury to the Delmarva Bariatric Center and saw Dr Sofronski at least 3 times prior to surgery, left the hospital with his home phone number in case I had a problem post op and saw him once a month for the first year for follow up, then once every 3 months the second year, now I am on 'annual' visits, but I know if there is ever a problem I can get in to see him. I know that his practice is getting larger and maybe there is less of a 'personal' touch that previously, but I can't help but believe that he still does the follow up personally. I had a problem with Dr S's office just trying to schedule my two week appointment so I can only guess at how frustrating it must be to have your appointment cancelled when it's been scheduled for 6 months. I guess I better start now to schedule my 3 month appointment. I am very glad that I chose Dr S as my surgeon because he is simply the best, but I am not real fond of his office staff. I spoke to Pat about it the last time I was there and told her about my frustrations. She told me to hang in there and that I could schedule my future appointments through her if I wanted to. There is a girl in oor support group in crofton who told me the same thing about Dr S. She's had one or two appointments rescheduled. I havnt even sen my Dr Magnuson. I always saw Pat and I really wanted to see him. Ohwell what can you do
