Am I eating too much?
Hi all,
I feel like my weight loss should be more. I go to the March surgery board and everyone has lost a lot more weight then me.
I am supposed to be eating six 1/2 cup servings a day. I usually eat about four. My sister said that different foods are measured with a cup and others with a scale. So, I got out my old WW scale and started measuring all my meats with it. I was counting four ounces as a serving. Isn't that the same thing as a half cup? On the papers my nut gave me they give values for things, chicken one ounce is 7 grams of protein, etc.
So, I made this chicken dish the other day. It had chicken breast, onions, peppers, water chestnuts and bean sprouts. I would measure out three ounces of the chicken and then one ounce of the veggies, four ounces, right? Well, I ate this for lunch for a few days. Then I thought this looks like more then a half cup so, I measured out on the scale and then put in the 1/2 cup and it didn't all fit. It was more like 3/4 cup. Am I crazy. Should I go by just the cup not the scale. But like lunch meat, I should cut it up to fit into the cup?
I am just confused. I feel like I am messing up this opportunity. What do you all think?
Sorry this was long and thanks for hanging in there.
Frustrated Wanda
Wanda,
Don't stress!!! And whatever you do, don't compare your weight loss to others .. if I did that I would have long ago thrown myself on a sword and put myself out of my misery You should be following your doctor/nutritionist's instructions ... the weight WILL come off. Everyone loses at their own pace.
Hugs, Mo
Everyone loses at a different rate. You may be what the others call a light weght. I was (am). Light Weghts lose a little more slowly than those that had a starting weight above 300 from what I've observed.
My understanding is 1/2 cup total for the food. I eat protein first. Then if I have room other foods.
Keep up the good work.
Last time I was there he said you are doing everything right and are right on target.
Others I have read about that have lost more weight, do have some issues with food.
Getting sick, stuff getting stuck.
I guess I would rather lose slowly then have those issues.
I did have the surgery, I have to lose. Right? lol
Wanda
Wanda,
You are doing just fine. If you was eating too much your pouch would let you know trust me. The pain in the middle of your chest or even when you are going to take another bite and you are like ughhhh no way.
I had a stall for 2 weeks it felt discouraging because I felt I could be losing quicker. But we are light weights and our bodies will lose at it's own pace.
My scale is moving again and yours will be too.
Hang in there sweetie.
Hugs,
Cira
HI Wanda,
I am also a pat. of Dr. Roe. Email Jenny and she'll help you within the day. Also don't compare to others if the scale is going down that's what's important. I've been losing all along but at differ. rates each month but it's coming off and that's what's great. If yuou over eat believe me you'll know it. Hope to meet you at the next support group meeting everyone there is very helpful and will answer all questions. Keep up the good work and try and not let the frustation get to you. Sally
