This by far the worse food stuck experience I ever had. I felt better when i finally threw up. Now I am trying to drink a little home made chicken broth and I am feeling hte same pain in chest, runny nose, nausea all over again. Oh man so should I just not try drinking anything at all? and for how long? I feel horrible. Cira Who is all jacked up!

Oh, Cira, I'm so sorry! I think I'd wait a while longer, and just take tiny sips when you do. Maybe it's not all through yet. Although your pouch might still be sore, kind of a muscle type of soreness, once the offending item is through, either from you puking it up or it passing on it's own, you should feel instant relief. Think of a clogged drain - when you put liquid on top of it, if the clog's not entirely dissolved, it'll just back up again. A gross analogy, I know, but a pretty apt one. Try some hot tea, and if it still feels "weird" in the a.m. maybe just stick with protein shakes, etc. tomorrow. Just be careful and if you're really concerned, go ahead and call DVR. You already know he's going to respond compassionately. Sowwy! Tia

Unfortunately, I think even the dry heaves are normal. Not fun, but typical. Glad you had him paged. Call me if you need me, I've got my cell on. BTW, don't be surprised if after all is said and done, you're completely wiped out - that too, is completely normal. Tia

I felt relief for a while after I puked but then I tried 2 small sips of chicken broth and it made me feel just like I was feeling in the very beginning when it first got stuc****ep spitting the saliva that keeps coming up and it hurts to breath in. ughhhh Hopefully this passes soon. I am still waiting for DVR's call. Thanks for replying. hugs me

If he doesn't call back within 30 minutes, have him or Dr. Moen paged AGAIN. I know they're responsive, but.... Sounds to me like there might still be a small piece stuck.... Let me know what he says, I'll be online for a while yet, and on my cell after that. Tia

I just finished talking to DVR and he says to wait another couple of hours to try to drink and to stay on clear liquids until tomorrow and then full liquids all day tomorrow. If I can't tolerate liquids today to call back tomorrow morning so they can check me out and get IV fluids. I only had about 6 ounces of water today. Do you think I might have some chicken stuck in there from yesterday? Wouldn't I have felt sick yesterday if that was the case? What the heck? He said my stoma is swollen and irritated right now and hopefully it will pass by this evening. I hate to go back to the hospital. Girl say a prayer for me. Hugs, Cira

See, he's right!! I really don't think it's chicken from yesterday. I think, like he said, it's just swollen and irritated, but it is a nasty feeling. I think even tomorrow you might still feel like someone punched you, but stay on top of the liquids. Do what he tells you! You DON'T need frequent flier miles at GBMC!!! Tia

Good God Cira, you are really going thru hell you poor baby!! Sometimes when I feel like something is stuck, walking helps. Also, I sneeze when it doesn't go down right. I think you should just concentrate on sipping for awhile and get some rest. Try to sip as much as you can, so you don't get dehydrated. Hope you feel better soon!! Hugs, linda
