When you consider the amount of water you must drink post-op, does crystal lite qualify? Gail

Gail - Yes! In fact, it's a good thing it does, because my pouch doesn't like plain water most of the time, so I drink LOTS of the Walmart brand of Crystal Light. I drink between 140-200 oz. a day, although 60-80 seems to be the minimum. I figure if I'm drinking, I can't eat, so it's a good thing! Tia

I was told Crystal Lite counts, but I can't drink it - I had it in the hospital and it made me so sick, I haven't had the nerve to try it again. I drink lots of decaf - iced tea. I was also told no carbonated drinks, has anyone else been told that?

Yep carbonated drinks stretch your pouch and the amount of sugar is crazy too much.

I was referring to diet soda, I haven't had a real soda in years because of diabetes. Some WLS girls told me they are drinking diet soda that is carbonated, and I heard too that it can stretch your pouch. Also, I was told not to drink thru a straw, that it can also cause the pouch to stretch. Have you heard of other things we shouldn't do?

Oh okay. You should be able to have a diet soda every once in awhile -- just do the ones without caffeine.

I am so glad that you said that crystal light can be used as water. Because I thought that i was the only one who could not tolerate regular water. I am so glad that I was turned onto this site by a friend of mine. I have learned so much information just in the last few days. I have fallen off of the wagon to the point of depression. But I am already feeling better. Question? Before I had the Operation I always craved salty things. Now after I crave sweets especially chocolate which we all know is a no no. Does anyone have any suggestions for this?
