Hey Nancy, Dr Schweitzer is the best. I had surgery with him on April 3rd and so far everything has gone very well. He is definitely a no nonsense doctor when it comes to being personable, but his experience and expertise speaks for itself. I am surprised you got such an early appointment. I had to wait 4 months for my appointment. When I went in for my initial consult, I actually wanted to have the lap band done, but he told me I did not have the right body type for that particular WLS so I then opted for the RNY. Nancy - As I told you, I had my surgery with Dr S Nov 9th and he is the best. You were very lucky to get your consult so soon. I waited 3 months. After your insurance approval, your wait will only be a month or so!! I thought about the Lap Band, but after my meeting with him, I realized the Lap Band would not help me. Allow him to explain both surgeries to you before you make a decision. Good Luck!

Hi Nancy! I waited over 6 months for my appt with Dr. S but it was WELL worth the wait. While it's true that he's very serious about the surgery et al, he DOES have a sense of humor. I found him to be very caring (and really kinda cute - kind of reminded me a bit of George O'Malley on Grey's Anatomy...in looks only) and am SOO glad he was the one cutting on me.
