What "diet" did you doctor put you on for the 6 month supervised plan? Was it ADA OR AHA approved? Did any of your doctors put you on the atkins plan? For those of you who have received approval from your insuance company for the RNY, 6 month diet, what do you think is the most important things that insurance companies look for in the dcotors progress notes. *I'm trying to cover ALL basis and get this surgery approved, like yesterday lol....Thanks in advance for any responses

I think it varies from doctor to doctor and insurance company to insurance company. Actually, the nut at my doc's office suggested I do an Atkins shake for breakast, a Weigh****chers, Lean Cuisine meal, etc., for lunch, along with a salad or some veggies, and a "sensible" meal, trying to keep each meal, if it was frozen, under 300 calories. If I needed a snack, I usually ate almonds, string cheese or s/f popsicles. And I chugged water all the time!!!
I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but I think they're looking to see that you're willing to make the necessary changes to help this surgery work and that you're committed to doing what you need to do.
HTH,
Have a good weekend,

i JUST FINISHED MY 5 MONTH OF THE DIET. wE DID LOW CARBS WITH MY PCP. I LOST 3LBS THEN GAINED FOUR THIS MONTH. MY LEGS ARE SWOLLEN AND I WUIT SMOKING. I ALMOST CRIED. MY PCP DONT WORRY ALL THEY WANT TO SEE IS THAT YOU TRIED. THAT IS WHY YOU WANT SURGERY, BECAUSE YOU CANT DO IT ON YOUR OWN. I EVEN CALLED MY SURGEON. HE SAID DONT WORRY ABOUT IT. SO 16MAY IS MY LAST DAY AND THEN IT WILL BE SENT TO BC/BS FOR APPROVAL. YEAH!
