Hi everyone. Well, I've been trying for almost 3 years to get this surgery done and am seeing my third surgeon this Tuesday (April 17th). I have had insurance issues and then health issues that have moved me to this point. I really didn't care for my first surgeon's staff members, so when the insurance fell through, I decided to move on. My second surgeon "tried to kill me off" with a hernia repair gone terribly wrong. He stopped practicing about 6 weeks after I finally got out of the hospital. That's okay, I wasn't going back anyway! So here I am. I will be seeing Dr. Vanguri on Tuesday. I had been to one of his seminars about 2 years ago and was quite impressed with his knowledge and demeanor. Does anyone have any experience with this doctor that they would be willing to share? Also, my papers state that my surgery would be at Franklin Square Hospital. Any information on their care and facilities. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, April

Hi April, I don't have any experience with Dr Vanguri, but would like to welcome you to the Maryland group. We have a wonderful gang of caring individuals here (I was going to say gals here .. but then there's Dave and Jeff who might not like being referred to as 'gals'

) Please feel free to jump in and join in any discussion or ask any questions you may have. Some of us (like me) are a ways out from surgery and some are recently post op as well as others who have surgery dates scheduled ... all the way to those who are just starting their journeys and not sure if WLS is exactly for them. I had my surgery done by Dr. Vanguri and I think he's WONDERFUL!!! He is a very skilled surgeon who has a great track record and many years of experience with WLS. My stay at Franklin Square was decent. Their rooms were pretty small and you had to share a televison (on the floor that I was on). But the nurses were nice and I had no complications so my stay was a breeze. Hope that helps! -Angie

Hi Angie, Thanks so much for answering my post. I have done some research on Dr. Vanguri and know he has been doing some form of this surgery for over 25 years. I think that speaks for itself. I'm glad to have found someone who is a current patient of his. How are you doing? Any pointers? Thanks again, April
