Hi, I guess I'm the same as Nancy been lurking and decided to join. Well I started this journey in February everything was going well. I had gotten approval from my primary care doctor. Saw Dr. Singh, Bea Flynn, and the dietican and went to the seminar as well as the lap band seminar that's the WLS I'm having. And then I discover because of my insurance that I have to do a six month weight loss program so waiting has been hard as well since I decided to do this. Hopeful my surgery will take place in August.

Hi Nancy, I am having my RNY with Dr Averbach on the 27th....I think they have the seminar twice a month on Tuesday. It is weird that you have to wait till May, I would have thought there is a seminar coming up. I started my journey in March, I would have had the surgery earlier but hit a snafoo with United Helath Care. Anyway, long story short, I was approved Thursday and surgery is scheduled in 2 weeks. You won;t have a long wait once approved. If you want to start the ball rolling I would make appointments for the psych evaluation and nutritionist. ONce I went to the seminar I called the next day to see Averbach and saw hin the following week. Best of Luck to you!

They do have them twice a month and they are all full -- the problem with the end of May (besides being the end of May!) is that we are actually not going to be here, we have a family wedding out of town. So I keep calling to see if they have cancellations but I also figure, out of the supposedly 125 people registered for each seminar, statistics are on my side that someone, just one person, won't show up that night. I am hoping to go and "camp out" at the next one coming up. Kind of like flying standby! In the meantime I am hoping I can get a spot in the Hopkins seminar coming up this Thursday. Sigh, who'd have thunk I'd be so desperate for surgery! :crazy: Good luck with your upcoming surgery, I'll say a prayer for you....N

I never went to a seminar! I think camping out and hoping someone doesn't show is a good idea!
