EMBARASSING MOMENT.......

I am the Executive Director of a mental health drop in center. We have numerous people in and out of our office all day, professional and non-professional. I recently hired a young woman for our office position......there are only 2 of us in our location. I have been training her for a week now and she is really sweet. I have degnerating knees, no cartiledge, and alot of falls at times when my knees buckle. Today she complimented me on my new shoes........they are cute, black with stacked heels....not real high but cute. About an hour later my knee buckles and I fall on my face right in front of her desk!!!! She yelled and repeatedly asked if I was aliright........meanwhile I am sitting on the floor, tears welling up, embarassed, and trying to explain to her that this happens occassionally. She loooked scared to death and I was embarassed. I had to explain my condition to her so she would understand. She asked if my new shoes were the culprit......I said no. Then She asked if it was cuz of my age !!!!!!!!!!!! I am only 34!!!!!!!! To say the least it was embarassing!!!! Now I have a knot the size of a baseball on my kneecap, a purple bruise and a wounded ego!

Oh wow, sorry to here that, You will be fine. At least you didn't walk from the bathroom with tissue on your new shoes

Oh Heather...you poor thing. Just how old was this sweet girl? I remember when I was little and my mom turned 30 years old. OMG...I was so upset that she was getting so old. Needles to say when I turned 30 it was very hard on me. Turning 40 and then 50 was not as bad as 30....lol I hope you put ice on that knot on your knee. I had both knees replaced when I was 51 years old because of no cartlidge. Take care of yourself. Gail

HI Gail, I am 52 and need both knees replaced due to arthritis and degenerative joint disease. No cartledge no nothing in the poor things and to think they carried 360 lbs around. I am 6 months out and lost 109 lbs so my knees must be breathing a small sigh of relief. I needed to lose 100 lbs before knee surgery so I'm thinking about it in the spring. Tell me about it. Good? Bad? After Gastric Bypass which went wonderfully I still nervous about undergoing another surgery. Thanks, Margie

Sometimes you have to turn our maladies into humor. I would have said "Whoopie!" and gone on. Explaining what happens to her was also a good idea. I know it is hard, but don't let that get you down. My ress blew over my head as I walked down the aisle to get married-- now that was a whoopsie... See I knew you could laugh.

The going on part is hard once my knee blows......it kinda locks into a very painful position. But I sat right there, in the floor, in front of her desk and talked to her like nothing happened. I fought the tears from the pain bac****il I was in my office and had the door closed. I can relate to the wedding tragedy......when I married my ex husband I went to sit down so he could remove my garter and I missed the chair completely and wound up in the floor with my hoop skirt raising my gown so all could see....EVERYTHING!!!! Now I did laugh that off!!!!!!

ouch that had to hurt. that is why i don't even wear any type of heal. not my knees but my ankles twist so easy. take care of yourself and keep ice on that bump. i think we all have had embarrassing moments like that. take care and have a good friday and weekend. don't be embarrassed. and as for being old... this is to her from a 43 yr old. just kidding. see ya. tammy
