Lap band Surgery

J am waiting for insurance approval. I was curious how other post op lap band patients are doing?

Thanks, I am getting anxious for the surgery. It has taken me a long time to even consider surgery. I pray that I am approved by the insurance company.

Welcome to the Md board. I want to wish you all the best! i am sure someone will post soon to you. But also you can check out the lap band board and get a bigger range of response there. Hi Phyllis, I just joined the boards and I am hoping to have the lap band surgery too. Where is yours? Who is your surgeon? I can't even get into the seminar until the end of May GRRRRR! I've been calling them everyday (at St. Agnes) to see if there are any cancellations. How long after you went to the seminar did you get your consult and everything? I'm impatient to get started now that I've made up my mind! I hope you don't mind if I bug you with questions, I'm just want to know all I can, hugs, Nancy PS, what is your insurance, if you don't mind me asking? What kind of hoops did they make you jump through? Thanks!

Hi Nancy, I am at Hopkins, bayView with Dr. Schweitzer. I called his office on Feb 23, 2007 and they scheduled me for a consult on March 24th!! I did not have to go to a seminar, but did have to read his web site thoroughly. I had by nutrion appointment on April 10th and my psych on March 27th. The office will fax my info to my insurance Monday, April 16th. I have BC/BS Triple choice. I called my insurance on Feb 23rd after I called for my appoint,ment. The customer service rep was extrmemly helpful. She advised me of all the documentation I needed to insure I had no problems with the approval process. She advised me to send a letter from myself on why I needed the surger, a letter form my PCP, diet info, sleep study - if I had sleep apnea, documentation from my PCP records from the past year, nutrionist, and Psyc consult Dr.Schweitzer's office told me that I will have surgery within 30 days of the insurance approval. I am so happy, I have waited along to time to accept I neede this surgery. i pray that all goes well. Good Luck with your journey, keep me posted and i will keep you updated as well. Phyllis
