Okay.. Frustrated AGAIN!!
My surgeon had set a surgery date for me of April 18th. Today, I called CareFirst to make sure they had received and/or reviewed everything. I talked to the nurse reviewing my case for approval, and she said they didn't get enough information about my 6 month physician monitored diet. I was actually on a 9 month one for gestational diabetes, and had met with a nutritionist and all. She said, however, that won't do because it wasn't ONLY for weight loss. Imagine that! Well I have been doing a diet since November, but my primary care doctor hasn't really taken much note of it. I did get a copy of a letter online from some helpful people on this site, but now I'm worried if my doctor is going to sign them.
My surgery date is only 9 days away.. and I'm afraid now that I'm going to have to wait ANOTHER 6 months?!?!?! Very frustrating! Please pray for me that my doctor signs off on these notes I printed, documenting my weight and BMI for every month for the last 6 months!!!
Thanks!!
Kelly
I hope there is away around it but the same thing happened to me the first due to my pcp lack of knowledge i would say.My surgeon gives a dummy date to the insurance company for approval and then schedule after he gets authorization. After everything was submitted to the insurance my doctors office got a verbal within 48hours and the writting authorization followed in the mail.I had my surgery 3 weeks later
