This is something I've thought about for quite some time, and hopefully there are others out there who also have an interest. My family and I are going to Hike Maryland. One hike a month, different locals. We live in a beautiful state, and since having surgery and losing the weight, I now have the physical ability and the want to start checking it out. I will pick an area and post the details. Just email me privately with any interest or questions or ideas. Here's the 1st hike: Date: Saturday April 14 Time: 10AM Place: Oregon Ridge Park/ 13401 Beaver Dam Road ****eysville, MD 21030 - http://midatlantichikes.com/oregonridge.htm (read about the hike at this website) Rain Date: Hopefully the weather will always cooperate, but if not, we'll assign a rain date. A little park info - The largest county-run park in Baltimore, Oregon Ridge is 1,000 acres of outdoor entertainment. The huge hill used to be popular with skiers before newer resorts arrived, but the park is still a favorite for hiking, climbing, running and hang gliding. There are picnic and play areas and a large amphitheater where the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra performs in the summer. Rock concerts are also held throughout the year, hosting such past performers as Eric Burdon and the New Animals and WAR. During the fall, the annual Walthers Grassroots Music Festival gets park goers grooving. While musicians sing and play, hot air balloons soar high above. The Oregon Ridge Hot Air Balloon Festival features colorful balloons that take over the sky -- watch out for the big pink flying pig. -- Stacy Noyes (Photo: Courtesy of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra) We'll keep the hikes kid friendly and not too physically demanding. I look forward to hearing from anyone who wants to join us. No parking or entrance fee. *** Extended Weather Forecast*** Mostly cloudy, 56 high, 47 low, 10% precipitation. Does not sound like bad hiking weather. I'll post again on Wednesday and then Friday. If weather cooperates, the hike is on! TTFN! TraciL

Traci I'm still wanting to do this, though this morning I started getting 'wimpy' thoughts about it!!! I haven't bailed yet, just need to make sure there's no conflict with other commitments. Hugs, Mo

No stress involved! If you wake that morning and all the stars are aligned in your favor, and it's something you really want to do, just show up at about 9:50 AM. Hike starts at 10AM. Hope you can make it though. I've had to back out of plenty events due to life and schedule conflicts. I'll be planning another hike in May. TraciL

Hello Tracy, This is something I'd be interested in. I haven't been hiking in some years. I think the last time I did anything close to hiking was when I was in Phoeniz, AZ at Tapitio cliffs --which is a hotel built in the side of the mountain and you can acutally go from hotel building to building and not touch the ground. If its not too cold, I'm in. Gives me an excuse to purchase hiking boots.

Oh no, Traci... It is this weekend. I really wanted to commit and will still try to. Please give us more info into what exactly hiking is. LOL I was planning on arriving in a warm up suit and sneakers. Do you really need hiking boots, long stick, anti-snake venom, poison ivy proof gloves and a compass? I can trip on a twig laying on the sidewalk.... eheheheh I now am assuming that this is not a stroll in the park but an adventuresome hike through the woods. Think I am developing into a wuss!!!
