I have some questions....
Hi, everyone it's me again. I had a pretty good night. Couldn't really get comfortable sleeping. I slept on the couch because I thought it would be easier than my bed but it took me about 4 hours to find the right spot, lol. Anyway, I'm waiting for my friend to go get my prescriptions filled but I think they are pills?? I didn't think I was allowed to swallow pills?? Also, I'm having major acid reflux. I had it bad before surgery but it seems like I'm having it again. I didn't have it at all in the hospital, it just hit me last night as I was trying to go to bed. Any ideas??? I think I have a prescription for that in my stack Also, my surgeon never gave me a list of what to "eat" this week. I know I'm on the liquids but she never said how much of this and how much of that. I know the water and protien is constant but should I be doing chicken broth and the sugar free popsicles and jello also??? That is what my ex did for his first week. I feel like I know what I should do but then I don't lol. And now I have a major fever blister on my lips and my nose is sore from the tube. Ok, sorry I've written so much but I know you guys are the best when it comes to this type of stuff. BTW, I am going to call my surgeon when her office opens!!! Thanks again
Jamie for your first week == liquid fluids -- sugar free jeelo and popsicles -- I purchase the pack that have the tropical flavors -- those are good. Beef broth sucks so I stuck with the chicker -- was the sodium content. I purchase Herb Ox -- sodium free chicken broth. Also if the Isopure Low Carb Protein drink -- crystal light. You should have the liquid Tylenol for any pain. Your surgeon should have presribed previcid solutabs for you --they dissolve in your mouth -- don't chew them or take them with water. They are suppose to be taken on an empty stomach and this should assist in your acid reflux.
Yes, do what your ex did. The first week of post-op is all about staying hydrated. Your 2nd week includes the clear liquids PLUS adding protein drinks like Lean Body, Atkins -- any protein drink or anything that has less than 5 grams of sugar.
Hope this helps
Thanks!!! My pain medicine is a pill form, but I'm not worried about taking it because I haven't had any so I'm not going to take it. I got prliosec today because that's what my docotor prescribed, it's a pill and my ex takes it daily so I guess it's ok. I have the popsicles and I'm going to try the chicken broth today for lunch. I have the Isopure Low Carb Protien drink so I'm planning to drink that too. Thanks again.
You might want to mix the isopure with water. I also have Celestial seasoning teas and I had the apple something so if you have the apple isopure you can pour it in the tea. Don't mix it with the soup --that was a mistake I made.
I'm surprised they have you on pill form -- supposedly they don't dissolve like they should. Hope all that goes well. Every surgeon is different regarding their patients after care.
i had pills too.prilosec was one of them. You may not have to worry much about how much liquid i was barely abel to get much of that myself. One got full qiuck and two did not have an appetite.I would take my meds because i knew i had to and everything else was a struggle My husband would beggg me to eat some jello.
