I'm Home

Went in for surgery on the 3rd came home on the 5th. I am still a little sore, but taking no pain medications. I guess now the real fun begins. I am still very nervous about possible post-operative complications. Anyone have any good advice as to what I should really be watching for. Dr Schweitzer was great and made me feel like everything is going to be okay. He just mostly cautioned me to make sure to follow the plan. I had to spend the first day and 1/2 after surgery in the SICU due to not using my cpap machine but he made it very clear that that was the reason I was in there and that there had not been any complications and that everything went well. What is the best sign to look for to make sure I do not develop any blood clots. I am really nervous about that. I live in Taneytown in western Carroll County, any others out there from Carroll County? Thank you to everyone who sent well wishes.

Hi Carol and welcome to the losers bench. Just keep walking walking walking and that helps to not get blood clots and helps if you have gas pains. I wish you well on our journey and keep us posted on how you are. Kelly

Isn't Dr. S. the best? Glad that you used him, huh? As Kelly said, just keep walking and sip, sip, sip. You will feel yourself getting stronger each day. Follow his plan, and you will be off to a good start. Don't rush anything, you have the rest of your life to experiment, just not now. Look forward to seeing you at our monthly get-to-gethers, Adrienne

Carol Welcome home. My best advice is to follow your doctor's instructions. Each doctor has his own protocol for his patients so we don't all have the same experience. Sip Sip Sip and Walk walk Walk!! Best wishes as your WLS journey continues. Hugs, Mo

Carol, welcome home and I'm so glad that your surgery went great! Try not to stress over the "what might be's". Believe me, you'll know if something is not right. Don't feel stupid calling your surgeon and asking questions. Peace of mind is so worth it. Please keep us updated on your WLS journey. TraciL
