On April 10th I will be 3 months post-op and I was wondering what kind of multi-vitamins people are taking. I was going to buy the store brand or centrum, but wasn't sure, what kind and what it was suppose to say, or does it even matter? 3 months out I wasn't sure if I was aloud to do carbonate ones, or I have to still stick with caltrate. Anyone with suggestions on brand of multivitamins. The other problem I have had, which is a bad thing, I haven't taken any multi-vitamins since my surgery on January 10th can anyone tell me what I have done harmful to myself or what I will do to myself. That is why I'm wanting to take the vitamins because I'm getting a little scared and I know I'm suppose. Thank you for any help you can give me. Thanks a bunch, Marcy Oh by the way, any ideas on protein recipes. The protein smoothies I do, I'm a bit burned out on them. Is there a pill you can take to get the recommended protein in daily?

Marcy Every doctor seems to have a different idea about vitamins. Personally, my doctor started me on Flintstones chewables in the hospital. Here I am 3 years later STILL doing Flintstones and doing just fine. I could switch to a swallowable multi, but don't see any need for it. There's also a debate between calcium citrate and calcium cabonate. My doc said take two TUMS daily. I probably chew 4 TUMS most days for the calcium. My best advice is to check with your doctor's office on what you should or can be taking vitamin wise. The boards are a good source of support, but because each doctor has his own protocol for his/her patients you should be getting your advice from your own doctors. I'm sort of boring when it comes to my protein. I make a shake every morning that is like an iced coffee drink that you would get at a Starbucks, etc. I take a cup of crushed ice, 16 oz of water, a heaping scoop of vanilla protein (though I am sure chocolate would work just as well), 2 small scoops of decaf instant coffee, some powdered coffee creamer, a shot of sugar free syrup (hazelnut or kahlua) and a couple of packets of equal. I just shake it up and carry it to work. By the time I get to the office it's all ready to drink. Best wishes as your WLS journey continues. Hugs, Mo

Mo, Where do you get your S/F syrups? I have looked a few times at the grocery store and don't see anything. Thanks, Dave

Hey Dave, I've been lucky enough to find them at Sam's club in Annapolis (they have some of the DaVinci syrups in SF). It seems that not all the Sam's clubs have them. I have also heard that I think it's Marshalls (definitely the one in Annapolis and maybe others) have a variety of SF syrups. Sam's is definitely the best deal price wise if you can find them there. Good luck with it! Hugs, Mo

I still take centrum ans I am about 6 mos out. I also take caltrate. I still do the chewables because I prefer them. I thin if someone could develop a protein pill they would get very weathly from this group of people. You can get your protein in other methods. There is a recipe forum here that has some recipes for making things like protein balls. You can also order protein shots. They are pretty good and easy to swallow (in both senses of the concept). Good luck. Aime

I still can't do any pills so I am doing the Centrum liquid vitamin. I wish there was a pill to be able to get the daily protein amount but unfortunately there isn't. If you use fitday.com you can add the foods you eat and it will tell you how much protein you have consumed. I usually do 1 protein shake a day and I get the rest of the protein by my meals. Best of luck to you! Cira

Based on my Nuts advice, I have been taking 2 Centrum Chewables a day and 2 Chewable Caltrate 600+D a day. Both are pleasant tasting and easy to deal with.
