I seem to be addicted to???
"Cooking Shows" of all things Post-op. ?? Before "wls" I did not care for the shows because they would make me hungry? but Now!! All of a sudden I'm hooked? Is this some kind of self torture?? However I do enjoy the shows, some of the foods I remember what they taste like, and new things I just guess in my mind?? what they may taste like? A lot of foods I know I can't have? However I have gotten a few recipes of some healthier food choices I may try? Has anyone esle experinced this before? This is just so amazing to Me?? Help me out folks? Give me your Take on this?? Thanks! jbug.
jbug,
Don't fret! I loved the food shows, before and after surgery. Maybe it had a little bit to do with my attraction to Rachael Ray, but I never missed her in the evenings. That is, until my son got hooked on Blues Clues and Finding Nemo... I haven't seen Rachael in quite some time... I miss her...
You'll get to eat some of that stuff again... it just takes time. Plus, you'll appreciate it much more without over-doing it.

I am glad to see I am not the only one hood on these shows. I watch them well... around 4 or more hours per day. I do try the healthy recipes and I am pretty good about staying away from the high fat and fried ones.
LOL ... it is not self torture.... or is it??? I always tell myself.. I can eat that if I change... and then I try it.
Good luck and try Paula Deens Italian chicken and veggie soup.. it is VERY good!!!!

Morning Jbug
I don****ch the cooking shows but before wls I didnt care to cook. I would make my husband do it during the week. He was home before I was from work and the weekends were mine to do dinner and it was always take-out or go out to eat. But now I love to cook. Especially bake. I make things that I can have but got a little carried away so stoppped baking and now I just love cooking. Not the best but We havnt got sick. And I think my husband loves the fact that I love to cook for him.
Jbug -
I watched Food Network while I was recovering in the hospital from wls!! And I watch them all the time - especially Paula Deen and Rachel Ray. You may get some good ideas from them, and if you're creative, you may be able to modify the recipes to suit your new lifestyle.
Don't forget, too, you're probably mourning your old friend food, which is normal. Don't worry, you're not nuts - at least not any more than the rest of us!
Take care,
Tia
