gbmc
Hi Bonnie,
I was there for two days. Dr Roe does not use a drain unless things are really moist. (his words)
I do not work, I'm lucky I know, but I feel pretty good right now. I would guess maybe two weeks, depending on what you do.
I do not feel like I have had any complications. I ran a fever in the hospital and then a low fever a good part of this week. Just remember to use the breathing machine and walk. There and at home.
Take care,
Wanda
Bonnie,
I'm 5 weeks out and had RNY at GBMC -- Unit 48 takes care of you. But as in every place you have some staff that work and some staff that piddle around. My only thing with the staff was the day of surgery they kept leaving my door open and I could hear every sound and I wasn't getting up yet. I had to ask/tell her on several occasions to close the door behind her -- I didn't want to hear other peoples conversation and the flushing of toilets -- other than that private room, peace and wake up to check vitals every 4-5 hours or so.
Keep us informed and congrats on your upcoming date.
Bonnie,
Thank you. All is going well. Tonight I introduced my stomach to solid foods -- so far so good. It was suggested that I introduce new foods to my stomach while at home and not at work --which is good
I had lap RNY. My surgery was on a Tuesday morning aroun 7:30, that evening I was up walking and Thursday I went home -- Friday I was driving my partner to work. I stayed off work for 4 weeks. The only pain I felt was gas; otherwise my stomach felt as if I'd been doing sit-ups.
I probably could have gone back earlier; but since he said 4 weeks that's exactly what I took and my manager told me to follow doctor's orders and that's exactly what I did.
Yes I had an open RNy but Doc Roe only uses a 2 in*****ision..I dont know how he does it
I guess technically I was out of work Thursday frid sat & Sun but yes I was there Monday. I have a desk job and I made the hubby be my driver. Like I said I had a very easy time...never even pressed the pain button in the hospital. The nurses threatened to take my bed because I wasnt using it...I walked constantly...was so affraid of getting blood clots.
Hi Bonnie,
I had a Lap RNY on March 6th and I must say that the day staff is top notch. At night I would suggest that you have someone stay overnight with you to help you and to find the nurse when she disappears. I had a private room and it was a nice size too with a bed that so that whomever is staying with you can sleep on.
I have 2 small kids at home and they cried so much while I was at the hospital that it was wise for my husband to stay home with them. I was there for two days. I have heard from others that have had an open RNY they had stayed 3 or 4 days. But it all depends on your doctor. Make sure to call and ask.
Best wishes in your journey.
