I used GBMC and thought everything there was top notch. You do get your own room and are allowed to have a support person stay overnight with you. I was in the hospital a total of 3 days for Lap RNY and my husband was able to stay with me the whole time. Several people on this site used GBMC so you should get lots of opinions here. Best of Luck in your journey!!! Stephanie

Hi Bonnie I was at John Hopkins Bayview. But I went with Heather Modell to visit Cira while she was in there and it was a nice Hospital. The rooms were a great size. I think If I was looking into it I would ave chossen that Hospital rather then Mine. Good Luck on your wls journey

Hi Bonnie - I had lap rny with Dr. Von Rueden at GBMC in August 2005. I've had surgeries before at GBMC, so I already knew I wanted to go there. With lap rny, I had my surgery on a Tuesday and came home on Thursday. DVR's patients do get a private room that has an extra bed for a family member to stay with you, but I sent my Mom home after the first night - she snored!!! Anyway, the staff was great to me and I had no problems. Take care, Teresa (Tia)

I am 4 months out of supervised diet. May 16 will be my last weigh in. I am getting excited and nervous. I appreciate all of your responses. It really helps to know as much as possible. The private room is a BIG ++++. Thank you so much again to everyone. This site is so supportive and helpful. Bonnie R

Hi Bonnie, I just had surgery with Dr Roe at GBMC on March 20. You do get a private room with an extra bed. My hubby stayed with me the whole time, but wouldn't sleep in the bed. Poor guy slept in the chair, when he slept. The nurses are busy and I was thankful to have him there to help get me up for the bathroom and for walking. I did not ring the nurses but a couple of times when the iv pump went off and it did take a little while for them to respond. After we learned how to stop it, we did. All the staff treated me fine. Some were friendlier then others, but all were ok. Good luck, Wanda

Thank you for responding. How long were you in the hospital? Did you have complications? Do you have a drain when you leave? How much time did you take off work? I know its lot of questions, but I need to know as much as possible. Thanks again. Bonnie R

I also had my lap rny at GBMC. I was in the hospital for 2 days. The rooms are grat. The day staff is top notch. The night staff can be questionable, but that happens at most hospitals. Good luck. Soon you will be on the losing side. Aime
