40's not so bad!!!
Thanks to everyone for their birthday wishes! I truly had a great day! The weather was gorgeous, and I spent all day with friends and family. In fact, all weekend, since Saturday was my brother's birthday.
Since my motto is, "Life's short, eat dessert first," we went to Vaccaro's in Little Italy on Saturday night - if you go on your bday and show ID, you get free dessert!!! WOO-HOO!!! My brother got the Peanut Butter Fantasy - peanut butter pie, vanilla gelato, hot fudge, whipped cream (Heather Mod-e!) and chopped peanut butter cups!! OMG!!! I was good - I had two spoonfuls of cannoli cream and two cookies. Then we had dinner at Matthew's Pizza - that's right, dessert first, then dinner!!!
On Sunday, KB called and sang Happy Birthday to me - they were so excited! I met my bgf (since I was 15) for coffee at SB, and she gave me 40, yes 4-0! presents!!! She's nuts!! She gave me wine, gift cards, makeup, nail polish, mani/pedi supplies, bath & body stuff, pictures, notepads, flowers, you name it!! OMG! I had a blast opening it all! She's such a sweetie - don't know what I'd do without her!
Then I had dinner with the family at Jad's Caddyshack (Heather Mod-i, the service actually wasn't slow for once!). Then we went to my brother's house for cake (chocolate for me and homemade carrot cake w/orange cream cheese frosting for him!) Actually, I'd rather have the frosting! I got to meet Gary's girlfriend's two boys - 20 and 15 - and they were both chick magnets who made me feel ancient!!!! Then we went home and passed out. It was so nice being with my friends and family all weekend with no squabbling - kind of made me wonder if my family had been abducted by aliens!!! My parents bought me a beautiful huge cushion-cut aquamarine ring with diamonds, and Gary bought me a right hand diamond ring - very unusual - it looks like 4 separate thin bands of gold, each with 2 diamonds, and KB made me a card and gave me a digital camera. Now I just need to learn how to use it!!!!
On Monday, Mom & I went to Lexington Market and ate fried oysters and steakfish!!! Then I had a doctor's appt., and we went to look for a new kitchen floor. I could've done without that - Mom is SOOOOOOO picky!!! Good thing we weren't buying a car!!
So, a wonderful weekend - and 40 wasn't painful at all!!! Thanks again to all of you for your good wishes and your wonderful friendship. I could never do this - WLS or 40 - without you!!!
Tia
Hi Tia,
After reading about everything you did on your birthday, I am tired too!
Sounds like the day was filled with wonderful time and lots of great memories. You got some good gifts girlfriend! You deserve them. I like your friends idea of giving you 40 presents. I'll have to borrow that one for my BFF when she turns 45 in a couple of years.
Have a great day. I am getting ready to head out and enjoy this gorgeous day!
Hugs, Robin
Hey Robin -
Yep, I seriously needed a nap, but was too keyed up to sleep on Sunday evening, so I ironed Kaity's clothes!
I did receive some beautiful gifts - I'm so blessed to have wonderful people in my life. My bgf, Lisa, is sooooo thoughtful that way - but the poor thing, by the time she got close to present #40, she was wrapping $1 bills in purple paper!!! But it sure was interesting to open all of that stuff in Starbucks - you should've seen the looks we got!!
You enjoy the day - I don't even have a window!! Boo-hoo!
Tia
Tia I am so glad you enjoyed your 11th anniversary of your 29th Birthday . I bet those rings are georgous because they sound it. When i got my digital camera a few years ago I never read te directions I just looked at how to take the pic and put in on the computer. My husband wonders why I have it but it was a gift from my mom and I like looking at the pic right when I take it. But glad it was a good day for you
Hugs
