I'm Back and Hawaii is Still There :-)
Hi Everybody!
How is everyone? I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things with East Coast time. Hawaii was beautiful!!!! We had a great trip. Took a Helicoptor Tour for McMom's 76th Birthday - the two hour tour was cut short due to bad weather and was cancelled the next day due to bad weather. So we figure it wasn't meant to be. Went to a Luau. Went to the Volcanoes National Park. Visited the most southern point in the US (Key West is on the mainland and further north). Visited Pearl Harbor, Sat on the balcony of the condo and looked at the ocean crashing into the shore 40-50 feet away. Shopped till we dropped.
I did alot of walking while on vacation and it's a good thing because I ate stuff I don't normally eat. Oh, coconut cake and macadamia nuts dipped in white chocolate, rolled in coconut and dipped in milk chocolate and coconut pan (which I think is an island thing was like a sort of sweet hamburger roll (unsliced) with coconut macaroon type filling in the middle) YUMMY!!!! I try to keep a balance between watching what I eat/making good choices and eating stuff that normal people eat that isn't necessarily the best choice. Eating "bad things" is the exception for me not the rule. When I eat something that's not the best food choice, I feel guilty and then I have to tell myself that "normal" folks eat cake or M&M's (just not the whole cake or the whole bag) in moderation. I must've did okay because after 12 days, I weighed myself and haven't gained anything!
Work has been super busy (prior to vacation) and it hasn't let up since I got back this week. I'm also busy with some other things at church and for a retreat weekend that I'm volunteering to work on in early May. Things are going great with McSweetie (take that Tia!) too! He's wonderful! hehehe.
I hope everyone's doing well. For those who have had surgery while I've been away, Welcome to the Loser's Bench. I pray for a speedy, complication free recovery. For those of you who got surgery dates while I was a away, Congrats! For others who are new, welcome! For those that are experiencing new "WOW" moments, congrats! Keep up the great work!
Have a Great Afternoon!
Take Care,
Terry
Welcome back!!!!
Sounds like the trip was awesome! I am seriously jealous Unless you can get there via RV I'm not likely to be going to Hawaii any time soon (or maybe ever???)
I think your attitude about the food/eating is a good one. Everyone has their 'moments' with food and choices you just can't have them ALL the time.
I bet McSweetie missed you as much as we did and is happy you are home too.
Hugs, Mo
Welcome back Terry!!!!
Glad you all had a good trip and are back safe and sound! I'm sure McSweetie missed you and I'm sure you did too!!! I'm sure you are going to be very busy the next week or two playing catch-up at work and with him!!! Congrats on being on vacation and not gaining any weight!!! I love coconut and all the stuff you described sounds soooooooooo good!!! Take care and hope to see you at bowling at the end of the month!

Terry, you've taken my dream trip. I will get there one day. Maybe when the kids are all out of the house. Glad you had a great time. Wonderful memory maker, especially with your Mom. Any pics that you'd like to share?? Get back into the grove of things slowly. It will all be waiting for you when you've adjusted again. Glad to hear no weight gain.

I read the other post before I saw this one. I am so glad you enjoyed Hawaii. Sorry for the bad weather but I am sure it was still wonderful & beautiful. Don't worry about the eating. Moderation is key and that is something we can now do (if we practice it regularly). I know that before my surgery I would not have been able to eat just one cookie, or a bite of fudge or just 5 chips. Now I can and do stop with just a taste, most of the time. Of course, my body lets me know when I over-do it but for the most part I practice moderation daily.
I am also so happy for you that things are going well with McSweetie.
Hugs, Robin
Hi Terry,
I am happy you are home safe and had a wonderful time. I was a little worried the whole time because I saw reports of two tour helicopters down with people killed and I knew you were doing that. Very sad.
I am happy you had a great time and proved people can go on vacation and not gain weight.
