I had my surgery August 2,2006. My weight was coming of fast and I weighed 299 going into surgery. I now weigh 246 and I feel as though nothing is happening. I lost 21 pds before surgery and this is really depressing me... I'm still taking diabetic medications and some other meds. 5 more months and will have been a year and I'm really upset with this! can anyone give me some advise or help?

I've been dealing with this as well. To date, I've lost about 51 pounds and I feel like a failure. I keep on trying and dig in everyday. I also keep reminding myself that the lapband is different than the bypass and we will lose weight slower. I also keep exercising no matter what-even if I eat the wrong thing. I have to honest about my eating as well. I have not mastered the eating thing yet, to be honest. That's a huge issue and reason for my slow, slow weight loss.

For some reason, on this site, we tend to hear more success stories than those of us that struggle. Try not to use others experiences as your own. Hang in there and keep trying. You know what you need to do. I had to stop reading the postings here for a while b/c it made me feel like such a failure. Good luck. Beth 268/264/195

I am sorry you are stuggling. It is very depressing when the weight won't go and you are doing everything you can to get it off. I have been a slow loser if I compare myself with others. It is hard not to, but I try to look at my progress and avoid comparing. However, you should be losing, even if slowly. Have you talked to your doctor or nutritionist? Maybe they can help you. When I am struggling to get any weight off, I journal all of my food. I typically find that I have increased my calories by adding snacks. This is usually accompanied by adding more carbs into my diet and not eating as much protein as well. Maybe you could keep track of your food for about a week & then call your NUT. I hope you break the plateau soon. Hang in there! Hugs, Robin
