Work Out Partner
Hi Daniel
I go to Big Vanilla in Arnold Monday through Friday about 4:45 a.m. and on Saturday a.m. about 7. I swore going into it that I was NOT going to be a gym rat, and I'm not really a gym rat .. BUT I have found myself wishing in the morning that I had a little more time to spend (I have about 35 to 40 minutes to spend at the gym daily depending on when I get there).
Once you get in the routine it becomes addictive . Best wishes with your exercise program. I wish now that I had started 2 1/2 years ago instead of wating until I was almost 3 years out to start exercising. I started at Big V in early December, going 2 to 3 evenings and on Sat a.m. When I added the strength training, I put 2 early a.m.'s into the schedule. I finally decided that I had fewer demands on my time at 5 a.m. than 5 p.m. and I could get there most every weekday morning at 5 a.m. and so a 'gym rat in training' was born! A work out buddy is nice to have, but in lieu of a buddy, an mp3 player works well too.
Hugs, Mo
Mo -- 5 AM is a tad early. There is nothing available for me at 5 AM but SLEEP! I to your early riser practice.
Going to the gym can become addictive. A couple of decades ago, I'd work out at the Y after getting off duty and worked up to being in there for 3 hours. When I realized what I'd done -- I said to myself "ARE YOU CRAZY!" Since this surgery, I've got to get the right formula down. If I work out 2 days in a row it takes me 2 days to recover so I will be adjusting my workouts. I don't like that exhaustive feeling I get.
NaDine,
I find that somewhere between 20 and 40 minutes per day of exercise works really well for me. I alternate doing cardio and strength training, except on Saturday when I do both and spend some extra time at the gym. The sort of good thing about 5 a.m. is that I have a limited amount of time then so I can't overdo it. I find I have MUCH more energy during the day after working out, especially when I do the strength training.
Hugs, Mo
Your pics look great.Congrats on all the hard work you have done. You are about a year ahead of me. MY surgery was 8/13/06 at St.Agnes with Dr Averbach.
I go to Spy Aquatics in Severna Park 5-6 days a week and swim. I am not sure I could get through a land workout yet but hope to try soon.My health has allready improved more than I ever expected. My water workouts have built up quite a bit with resistance and time. I am in the pool 2-3 hrs a day and loving it. I also take Ai Chi in the pool.Which is Tia Chi in water. I would love to have some company in the water too. Anybody interested?
Have a great day.
Love Laurie
