Is anyone on I'm freaking out about Cira

I can't stop crying. I'm scared for her. I don't think I should have my surgery. I don't think I could handle this if it happened to me. I'm so mad at myself that I can't control my eating myself and that I've put myself in this situation. Maybe I should cancel and try to do it on my own again. I'm freaking out.

Calm down Wanda. Cira is in the best of hands with dvr. He did the correct thing and hospitalized her. I can't say that you or anyone else will never have a complication, but you can't take one case to base your decisions upon. Aime

(((( Wanda )))) I agree with Aime, but you also need to do what you are comfortable with. If you have major doubts then you should at the very least postpone your surgery until you have resolved your feelings. Complications are a fact of life with WLS. Not everyone has complications and some are more serious than others, but you have to weigh the 'chance' of complications against the long term benefit of the surgery. I had an almost painless recovery (I never took any pain meds after I left the hospital) and I went back to work two weeks after my surgery ... yet about 5 1/2 months out I developed a stricture in my esophagus and had to be dilated 3 times over 3 months. Three years post op I still have issues with food but would I do it again knowing what I might face .. yes .. in a heartbeat because WLS has given me back my life. We are all here for you and will support you no matter what your choices are. You are one of us .. and surgical or non-surgical we are here for you. Hugs, Mo

I'll echo what everyone else already said, Wanda, and am sending you a hug!!!! Whatever you decide, it'll be fine. See my updated post about Cira, though. I really don't think she'd want you to base your decision on what happened to her. She has enormous faith in God and DVR, and would want you to make your own decision. Take care and know that we're here for you!!! Tia

I know how you feel. I truly believe Cira will be ok. Talk with Dr. Roe... maybe he will make you feel better. Kathy

Thanks everyone for responding. Thank god that Cira doesn't have blood clots. I do hope that whatever it is will be corrected and she will be up and running in no time. With the surgery so close, I think I am just getting a case of FROZEN feet. The "what if's" are driving me crazy. Everyone I have known that has had the surgery has had no problems. So, Cira's problem just hit me hard to the reality of the risks. I'm being a big baby, I'm sorry. Thanks for being there everyone, Wanda

Wanda - No need to be sorry, we all understand. Been there, done that!!! I am a master of "What If," but surprisingly, my only what if was, "What if I DON'T have this surgery -how long will I live?" We're saying prayers for you, too! Tia

(((( Wanda )))) There is no reason to be sorry. This is a huge life-changing decision and you have to be comfortable with your choice. If you chose to postpone your date from Tuesday you will definitely not be the first person who has done that. We all understand your fears and it's even scarier when someone we know as well as we do Cira is one of the 'complications'. I believe she will be fine .. she has to be because she has the best group in the world pulling for her! As do you as well. Hugs & smoochies, Mo

I absolutly adore Roe...I believ with all my heart and soul you are in great hands. I was very lucky..never doubted my decision and was clamer than I had ever been the day before & of surgery. I really expected to freak out. Personally I had not problems and no pain but only you can make your decision. I truly wish you the best of luck..if you need to talk write me and I will give you my #. Diana
