A question for my fellow banders?
I was wondering if you would be willing to tell me what your experience with the band has been? I mean from the time you got to the hospital to have the band done, until now.
Also are there any questions that you didn't ask your doctor, but after it was all over you wish you had?
Even though I have a little bit to go (49 days to be exact) I sometimes find myself getting nervous, more nervous of the unknown I guess. Like how will I feel when I get up, how will I feel those first weeks, do the fills hurt, you know stuff like that.
I have heard about the gas pain (from the CO2) in your shoulder, and I had that pain when I had my gallbladder taken out, so I know what that is like, but other than that, I have no clue.
Thank you for helping me put my mind at ease, LOL.

Hi Jennifer and welcome to the boards. I am not a bander but there are a few on here. Nerves are normal before any surgery. Everybody on this board is great and can be very helpful in helping and giving advice so hopefully someone can answer these questions for you. Take care and keep us posted on your journey

Jennifer,
My band experience has been wonderful. Now I have had a couple of ICKY moments with food getting stuck but that is with any bariatric surgery. You'll learn what works for you and what doesn't. I would NEVER give my band back. My surgery was 9/14/06 and I have lost 58 pounds to date. Listen to your band and you will succeed!
It's painful getting up the first time but each time is easier. Probably similar to gall bladder surgery. The gas is manageable. Fills DO NOT HURT! I was surprised at this because the needle is pretty thick. Fills are practically pain free. It's sort of wierd through.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
