Plastics Approved!!!

I can't believe this! I received a call late yesterday afternoon (3/8) from the case manager at Walter Reed Plastic Surgery clinic. She spoke with the surgeon, Dr. Bonnecarre and he told her that there won't be any charge because of my massive weight loss and because I am a Walter Reed by-pass patient. The lower body lift surgery is covered!!!! I am going to call back the week of March 20th to schedule my surgery date. I am still in shock. I started crying on the phone when Mrs. Hill told me. I really hope this will make a difference. I hope they can at least get 4 inches off of my thighs. They will also lift my butt! That will be cool. They will lipo the outer thighs and give me the tummy tuck. I will likely look into doing my breasts later on. That I will have to pay for but at Walter Reed the surgery is about $1500. I think I can save up for that. Besides, a good bra will help me out until then. They aren't going to do the inner thighs yet. They are concerned that would be too much to recover from. They said they can do that later on as well. Who knows, they might cover that too. And if not, it will still be much cheaper and I am perfectly happy getting what I am getting!!! I am so excited! This is going to be happening very quickly. I have two months to get 10-15 (pushing for 20) more lbs off. I can do it. I know I can. My hope is that after the surgery I will be able to wear a 12 in jeans comfortably. I also hope that I won't have to alter my pants in the waist and that I can wear skirts/dresses that match in the waist/hips. That will be a dream come true!!! Maybe even no more elastic waisted skirts. I must give thanks to the Lord for His blessings. He has answered so many prayers in the past year. And the blessings keep coming. I am very humbled! I love the Lord so very much, and I would love Him even if he weren't answering these prayers. But I thank Him for His love and blessings!

Yay Adrienne! I am so happy that your tumor was benign. That is great news! Glad to see you back on the boards. I was going to be calling to check on you this weekend since we hadn't heard from you in awhile. I hope you are recovering well from having the tumor removed. I should be having surgery in May. I appreciate you being there for support. I have a feeling I'll need it! Hugs, Robin

Hi Robin, That is WONDERFUL news!!!!! I am so happy for you! Things are moving along for you and will be here before you know it! Would you have ever thought that you would be happy to have surgery???? And not once but twice???? LOL You have accomplished so much without the plastics and this is just the 'fine tuning' of your transformation. I'll keep you in my prayers. ~Heather

Thanks Heather. I just told my supervisors about this. One of them knew I was going for a consult but I just updated her and the head supervisor happened to walk in. When I told her what I was doing she made a horrible face and said "You WANT to have this done?" I told her Oh yeah! So yes, it is weird to be happy about having a surgery. I do feel like this is just the fine tuning of my work. It's gonna be great! Hugs, Robin

Hi Kelly, I am just so excited. I had to drive to DC last night for my support group meeting. I was so happy that I let out two fairly loud squeals in the car. I should know my surgery date in about a week and a half. Hugs, Robin

Oh you lucky ducky!!! That is wonderful news!!! You'll feel like a completely new woman after you heal! I can't wait to be able to schedule a plastics consult. Did you have any infections or skin problems???

Hi Heather. Nope, no real skin problems, just a lot of it and a lot of sagging. That is of course from being so stretched out for so long. Exercise will not take care of most of this. I have had some skin irritation in the bum area but nothing too bad. The healing will take awhile I am sure but I am ready for it. Hugs, Robin
