Hi everyone! I am new here and just wanted to introduce myself...

My name is Jennifer, and I live in Laurel, and I am having the lap band done on April 27th. I am so glad I found this site - ObesityHelp.com helped me find my doctor. It is great to see that there is such a great support group for us here in Maryland. I hope to become part of that support group too. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello. :-D Jennifer

Jennifer, Welcome to the fold. I'm 2 weeks out of RNY. We're hear for you. Any questions you have ask -- somebody in this group will be able to answer and/or offer alternatives. Who is your surgeon?

Well I originally wanted to go with Dr. Singh who works out of St. Agnes. I went to the information session, and fell in love with him! I loved his sense of humor, how he talks to people, just everything. Since I have no insurance, all of this is self pay. Well I have $$ saved up, but aparently it isn't enough. I was about $4,000 short of what I needed. So I was discouraged and trying to figure out a way that I could still do this when I came across this website. While doing some looking around, I kept coming across the name Dr. Ariel Ortiz, who is in Mexico. At first my thoughts were - umm, Mexico and surgery - those two names together don't bring up a good image in my head. But the more research that I did the more comfortable I became with him. I spoke with him, his assistants, my mother called and spoke with him and a couple of other people inhis office as well, and I have come away with nothing but confidence in both him and the surgery in Mexico. And so that is who my doctor is, Dr. Ortiz. Sorry for the book, LOL.

Traci - My husband grew up in Edmonston and his Mom still lives there. I also lived there for a while until we moved up to Hanover. This is pretty cool!! Yvette

Welcome Jennifer, I am 8 days from my RNY. It seems like just yesterday that I was looking at more than a month before my surgery. This place is an excellent source for any information you need.
