Who is your plastic surgeon?
I am almost 16 months out from surgery and will begin to start looking into plastic surgery. I have no idea about how to go about finding a good one, or what I should look for in one. I dont personally no anyone who has had plastic surgery so I cant ask them. So who is your doctor and how did you find him/her?
Hi Princess -
Didn't want to let your post go unanswered. A lot of us are at your point, where we're exploring; I don't know that a lot of people here have had plastics yet.
I know Terry M.'s is scheduled for May with a ps at St. Agnes. Unfortunately, or fortunately for her, Terry is heading to Hawaii tomorrow and will be gone for 10 days. You may want to post again after the 18th.
Good luck,
Teresa (Tia)
Princess --
I recently got a tummy tuck and inner/outer thigh lift with Dr. Adam Basner. He's head of plastic surgery at Sinai and came to talk to one of our post-op meetings. He does have a lot of post-wls patients. I also talked to Janet Woodyard, and I liked her also. In fact, my sister had a tummy tuck with her. I just didnt feel that Dr Woodyard had as much post wls experience. Also, since Dr. Basner spoke at the post-op meeting, I got the chance to talk to some of his patients and see some of his "work" -- and not just from pictures.
To find a surgeon, go to the plastic surgery forum. There is a listing of PS in Maryland, as well as some comments from their patients. Then make an appointment for consultation. Some of the doctors charge for the consultation, some do not (I found that my insurance would pay for the consultation, but not for the surgery). Expect that during the consultation the PS will discuss what YOU want your results to be when you finish what might be multiple surgeries. They should describe each of the surgeries they recommend for you. They should have some before/after photos so you can see what you are getting into. Different surgeons prefer to do multiple surgeries in a specific order (work from the bottom up, in most cases). Some do out-patient, some overnight at hospital, etc. Their office should be able to give you a $$$ quote.
Check out the plastic surgery message board also. Lots of good advice there.
Dr Tom Grace in Catonsville did my plastics. I've had a lower body lift, breast reduction and inner thighs done. I'm 7 yrs post op. My last surgery- arms is scheduled for 8/23. I'd recommend him. His number is 410-744-0900. He will also be a guest speaker at the May 2nd meeting at St Agnes' support group.

Hey girl,
I went for my 1 yr post-op on yesterday (WOOHOO). On 4/26/07 6:00-7:30 Dr. Ronald H. Schuster will hold a seminar in the Zamoiski Auditorium at Sinai. There were some fliers in the office when I went yesterday. I'll probably go just to hear what he has to say.
Question ? Where are you getting your pants from now. I had been getting mine from The Avenue and Ashley Stewart, but I'm having a hard time finding size 14 tall. I think when they order thier pants they sell what they have before they restock.

Just saw your post.... I don't get on this board very often. I am a patient of Dr. G and Dr. Basner. I did inner/outer thight lift. Breast lift (mastopexy) and arm lift. I had great results including healing, scarring, etc. Dr. Basner is wonderful.
I wouldn't go into any appointment with a preset notion of what you need. It is all very individual. I didn't need a tummy tuck but he did tighten or pull down a little during inner/outer thigh lift.
I would be wary of any dr. that was a cookie cutter approach.
Best wishes,
