My Endocrinologist' Appt...
Yesterday I had my first post-op endocrinologist appointment. She handles my blood sugar and blood pressure and PCOS. Prior to surgery I was taking 2,000 mg of Glucophage a day, 50 Units of Insulin at bedtime, and sliding scale of fast acting insulin with my meals. We went cold turkey the day of surgery and I was concerned that I might need to go back on at least some Glucophage after yesterday's appointment. Well, my A1C was 6.4 which is PERFECT. No need for ANY insulin sensitizing drugs. To top it off we agreed to cut my blood pressure meds in half since it has been running 110/68 and I've been getting light headed when I get up too fast. So, this is SO GREAT and I've just lost 50 pounds! Well not JUST, but I'm hoping that after I hit my goal that I might be able to be off all the blood pressure meds too. I told her that we'll try for another baby after I get to goal and that I am concerned that I might need the Glucophage to help me ovulate (it tends to help women with PCOs get pregnant and also to avoid miscarriage). She said that when I'm ready to start trying that I should try to get pregnant without it and if I'm not pregnant in a few months that we can try some Glucophage.
Thats great Heather. I was so happy when I got of my blood pressure meds. I felt light headed when getting up real fast. It is a great feeling. I also have PCOS and I did not know about meds for that. My doc always said weight was the problem and once I took care of that it would go away. Well glad you had a good check up and take care and see you soon
