here we go again

morning everybody, well i just looked at the weather online and it says we are in for another ice storm, LORD i hope they are wrong!!!!!!!! i don't mind the snow but i hate the ice. as for my smoking, i have been trying to quit and haven't succeeded but i have cut down alot. i can't quit cold turkey so i am trying to ween myself. it is working alittle. about a year ago i went to a hypnosis seminar a got hypnotized for quitting and it worked for about a week but i didn't follow the after session instructions. i have the tapes so maybe i can rehypnotize myself. the man says the suggestion is always there after you are hypnotized you just to listen to the tapes you want to use. there are different things. smoking,eating,sex,sleep,depression,all different kinds. me, my mom, my two sisters, and my niece all went for different things. my mom doesn't sleep very well so she uses the sleep tape and says it helps her alot. sooooooooooo anyhow. i hope everyone has a good time today at the luncheon. good thing the weather isn't supposed to start until late tonight. thanks for letting me run off at the fingers this morning have a great weekend everybody!!!!!! tammy

Hey Tammy --have you thought about switching brands of cigarettes might help. There is this brand called Capri -- very tiny cigarettes that may help reduce the amount you smoke. My partner smokes those. Good luck on quiting I know its a challenge.

Tammy, Sorry you are having such a time with the smoking! It's not an easy thing and I am sooo glad that I had already conquered the smoking before I decided on WLS. I know what you mean about the weather too. Mr Mo and I have plans to go to Timonium to the RV show tomorrow and I hate the icky weather. Plus we have to move our RV from the side of the garage to the driveway tomorrow also so Verizon can do our cabling for FiOS internet. I can just see the weather interfering with Verizon once again and them not being able to do the work on Monday. I've been out the gym and finishing up my coffee here .. next stop is the shower and some errands before I head to Timbuktu! Have a good weekend! Hugs, Mo

Hi Tammy, My sister was a long time very heavy smoker. She went to the Dr. back in October and they prescribed a new prescription drug called Chantix. For the most part she has quit smoking completely. Sometimes when she is in a social setting she'll have a cigarette but she goes days without them now. Some might say she hasn't really quit, but 1 cigarette over the course of 2-3 weeks is a heckuva lot better than 1-2 packs a day. Prior to this she was never able to quit before. You might want to ask your Dr. about it. HTH Take Care, Terry

Tammy I am with you. I quit right before my surgery and it was hard. I had tried to quit so many times before even thinking of wls but failed. I tried getting the Capri ones like Nadine suggested. They are tiny and thought oh I wont smoke as much but i smoked more on those. But they may work for you. It doesnt hurt to try. Then my quest was cold Turkey that lasted 8 hours. As soon as I left work I was at 7-11 buying some. My surgeon told me I had to quit or he wouldnt do my surgery. So i went to my PCP doc and told her I needed something. I had high blood pressure at the time and was afraid to use the patch. So she prescribed me wellbutrin. I think I also wanted to quit so it helped also but I did it. You smoke the first week taking it then the second week you stop and you take it for however long you need to. I took it for a month and havnt picked up a ciggarette in 8 months. My parents smoke and whenever I smell it it makes me glad I stopped. Whenever i have a craving i just walk by someone who is smoking and know that I did the right thing for myself and my future family. My husband quit to so that helped alot.
