Surgery was a success
Well I have to Praise God because the surgery went well and the nurses and nurses assistants at GBMC were AWESOME!
I went in Tuesday morning -- the first one on the table so Dr. VR was fresh and ready to go. I have had very little pain and the only night I used the pain pump was the night after surgery. The next day I wasn't sure if it was pain or gas so I didn't use the pump. Of course you have to pass gas in order to be discharged -- and was I glad that happened.
I'm home now and trying to move around as best I can without being sedentary too long. Its a too breezy to be going outside to walk about so its up and down the hall in the apartment. We'll see what type of weather Friday brings.
For those that have Dr. VR as your surgeon, look forward to a pain free aftermath -- of course everyone's pain level is different. Be encouraged the staff in Unit 48 will take care of you. Relax and enjoy the care, joke with the nurses and you might even run into a bypass patient or two.
Nadine,
Welcome home!! Congratulations on your successful surgery.
It is so good to know that you was treated well and I have a lot to look forward to. I am praying that I don't have too much pain after surgery. I definitely can not wait until my turn. I am getting very excited all over again. lol
I want to wish you all the best that life has to offer! Praise God for all the blessings!
hugs,
Cira
An "Amen" goes right there.
Cira, I believe you will be well pleased with the surgery. He had to remove some scare tissue from a previous lap attempt from 2002. The doctor tried use lap for removal of cyst on my ovaries and then had to open me up with the explanation that I was too fat. Now looking back I realized that the surgeon either didn't know what he was doing or didn't have the correct tools with which to perform the surgery.
The only pain I have from time to time is the drainage contrampton; however, that is very minimal. He will take that out on Wednesday. I'm up now at 2:30 Am having a half-cup of broth or at least working on it. My stomach was growling so I'd figure I'd get up and make a few figure 8s in the apartment. I might brave the elements tomorrow and walk outside for a spell --just up and down the sidewalk and see how that goes.
Thank you so much for assuring methat I will be pleased.
I am sorry that dr back in 2002 did not have the right equipment to help you out. He definitely seem like he had no idea.
I am glad DVR is very good at what he does and all of his patients that I have had the pleasure of talking to tells me the same.
I am glad you are doing so well. How are you doing this week? Anything new to report?
I would love to hear it.
Hugs,
Cira
Hey Cira,
I'm doing well. I've been out most of the morning and am getting some lunch (such as it is) down. I started exercising. Walked twice around the track on Saturday and Sunday did 5 minutes on the stationary bike and thought I was going to die the first 3 minutes so I got off and got on the treadmill and was able to do 15 minutes and then did some leg extensions to start working on toning up my thighs. I see that I'm going to have to do some floor exercises for these hips though. ON DEMAND have exercises so I'm going to see what's on there that can help me. I hate getting on the floor .
So I'm probably going to take the day off today (Monday) unless I feel like doing some cardio late this afternoon. It's just too windy to hit the track today and going into the fitness center kind of encourages you to do more than just cardio.
The eating or shall I say drinking, you kind of get used to. I forgot that I can now have cream soup so I've tried the creamed chicken soup with herbs and its pretty good -- I just push the chuncks of chicken aside but even if I end up chewing on one there hasn't been any dumping -- thank God I haven't experienced any of that at all.
I'm working on my Master's degree so I need to get caught up with my homework because the term ends March 13th. The professor has been great and filed an incomplete for me. I'm hoping I don't need it but it's there just in case. Well I'm going to take a nap now. You have less than one day -- how do you feel. did you drink that stuff yet?
Nadine,
I am so proud of you. So glad that you are doing so much in such a short time.
Glad that you are doing well with the liquid diet. It is awesome that you are doing so wonderfully. It is because we have such a great doctor.
Congratulations on working on your master and wow especially now that youy just had major surgery,. I want to wish you nothing but success and hopefully you will not even need the incomplete grade.
I am doing ok I have a nasty headache. I am having caffeine withdrawals because I didn't have coffee today. I have to say goodbye to my coffee for a few months. lol
I took that nast Fleets stuff at 3pm and by 4:15pm it was going right through me. ughhh I am still going I wonder for how long will it last??
I feel great otherwise and blessed that my day is almost here. I have about 13 hours to go!! Hurray!!! Luckily I am nt even feeling hungry so I am doing pretty good on the liquid diet.
I was going to take a nap earlier but that fleet**** me like a ton if bricks. lol
Take care and I will see you on the losing side...
hugs,
Cira
