Information please

Hi Although I now live in DE, I am a Maryland girl, and always will be. I am currently trying to get a consult with a Dr. and am finding it hard to find on that is available without a substantial wait. I am interested in the Lap Band surgery. Any suggestions. I have an appointment with Dr. Schweitzer, but it is not until May 21st!

Hi, Welcome to the Marland Board! Have you looked into Dr. David Von Rueden or his partner at GBMC? If you check my profile and click on my dr's name you can get the phone number and stats from there. I never had a long wait. Try Delmarva Bariatric in Salisbury. Dr Sofronski and his partner are both great! They do RNY as well as lap band. I am not certain of wait time. 3 years ago when I saw him for my consult it was 7 weeks until my surgery. Best wishes on your WLS journey, Hugs, Mo

I had Dr Schweitzer for my surgery 3 months ago..............he is worth the wait!!!

Lisa, I am a band patient of Dr. Schweitzer. Like Linda Ingram posted, Schweitzer is WORTH THE WAIT. Good doctors don't have short waits. Just think of it like that. I know you want to have this quickly, but the time will fly by. Here is a perspective for you. I made my consult appt in November'05. Had my consult January'06. Got approval, surgery was scheduled for April'06. Found out I was pregnant a WEEK before surgery. Had to cancel. Miscarried at 12 weeks in June. Got an IUD in July, rescheduled surgery and had to wait until Sept'06. I am now 5 months post op (and down 50 pounds). The time will FLY by. Good luck in your decision whatever it is, but I just wanted you to know that Schweitzer has a great reputation. I wouldn't have gone to anyone else. His staff is absolutely wonderful too.
