Science Project Help
Tia the Non-Mom here. My little G/T 5th grader, Kaity, has to do a science project. Her Dad and I have been reading the volumes of paperwork she brought home, and none of the three of us has any clue!! I mean NONE!
I searched some sites, and all I could think of was, "Cheaper brands of modeling compunds dry out more quickly than expensive brands." Then, I thought we could buy 3 different brands - Play-Doh, Roseart and Crayola. Kaity could then craft the same item out of all three, either leave them on the counter unwrapped or wrap them in plastic wrap and report her findings every week (the project will be turned in in April). But that seems so lame!!
G/T 5th grade today is like 8th grade when I was in school!!
HELP, WE'RE FOUNDERING!!!!!!
Any ideas (or volunteers to do the work!) would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Tia & Kaity
Dang, that's a hard one.....the only thing I could think of was making rock candy. Something along the lines of how the crystals form, how they look through a magnifying glass, How long it takes for the crystals to form and grow etc. She could start them at different times and show the growth...etc. Sorry, I know it's lame but all my old brain could think of.

Well....I can give you another image to wrap your old brain around LOL Three little words.....Professional Bull Riders. Tia, I have never seen so many good looking men in one area ...and this was on TV!!! I'm seriously thinking of taking a trip to Vegas the first weekend of November for the World Championship Bull Riding Competition. I've wanted to go back to Vegas....this just gives me more of a reason!!!! HEE HEE HEE

You are too funny, girl!!! Actually, my bgf and I were thinking of taking a trip to Vegas to celebrate our upcoming 40th's!!! Yet ANOTHER reason to go. You know, that whole, "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" thing. Having "dated" a cowboy, I can attest that Texas is a HUGE state (and I've never been there!)
You wicked, wicked girl!!!
Tia
HEE HEE HEE It's good to be wicked!!! HEE HEE HEE I tell ya I spent two hours watching the competition on TV Saturday night and I couldn't get enough!!! Maybe we should all make a trip of it....remember what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!!!! The "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowby" is on my MySpace page! LOL LOVE IT!!! I just get a little weak in the knees over those "good ol' boys"!!!

How about osmosis - if you wrap an onion in plastic wrap will the foods around it pick up the onion smell? Of course we all know that does happen...she could document how long it takes...that sucks, nevermind...go for the rock candy or play doh...hehe.
2 cans with the string, experiment with sound? Man doesn't that sound antiquated compared to the cellphones we have now? Then again, a cell phone is a radio and isn't that much different than the old walkie-talkies that we used to have. They just have a longer range (which the cell towers expand). Hey, maybe she could compare a cellphone to modern day walkie talkies? Compare them and talk about the differences?
Sorry, I was never great at science and I never had to do a project where I had to pick anything, the teacher gave us the assignment. Course there wasn't much imagination with 30+ kids all doing the same project, we usually worked in groups and all the groups had the same project.
I'm know I was absolutely no help...sorry. If I have a flash of brilliance later I'll let you know.
Have a great day!
