Dawn, for 3 months after surgery i couldnt stand smells, noise, or lite. It was weird because I am extremely afraid of the dark but kept closing myslef in my dark room so I could be alone with nothing to bother me. I was a slow loser too...i had surgery 9/17/03 and by 11/1/03 55 days later (same as you now) I had only lost 43 pounds. I dont know where you started but I was 360. I was also doing to the gym everyday then. I compared myself to everyone back then and was always disappointed. There would be weeks with no lose. I am now 3 years post op and down 160 pounds and maintianing it. If you keep doing the right things it will come off GOOD LUCK Diana RYN 9/17/03 360/200/still aiming for 180

hmmmm -- about 6 weeks out. Sounds about when I had my first "regrouping". I hesitate to call it a plateau because it really wasn't. I was still getting smaller -- as I could feel in my clothes. But the scale didnt move much. Then it started moving again pretty soon after that. Just stick with the program. Keep the protein, vitamins, and water up. You should be about ready to start some serious walking, and that will help too. I see that you're in the Sinai program. If you have any questions/concerns about how much you are losing, or eating, or things that really dont agree with you, call or email Nancy at Sinai. She's there for you and has some really good advice!

Hey Dawn - I'll echo what everyone already said about the weight coming off - IT WILL HAPPEN! These little "stalls" are your body's way of catching up, so don't be hard on yourself. Also, at 18 months (tomorrow) post-op, my senses of taste and smell are still affected. I noticed immediately post-op that smells affected me strangely, particularly after I had eaten and was full - a new phenomenon for me! Even now, once I've eaten, I can't always "stomach" the sight and/or smell of food, and often have to leave the room if someone is eating or cooking. Just a little quirk, nothing to be alarmed about. You're doing great, keep up the good work, and know we're here for any questions and/or concerns you might have. Take care, Teresa (Tia)
