very disappointed
I have heard of some surgeons making this a requirement prior to surgery; if mine did, I would be looking for another surgeon. Thankfully, Dr. Lin did not have this requirement. At the time of my surgery, the only requirement was that you meet the BMI levels (BMI of 40, or 35 with comorbidities) and be willing to go thru a psych eval to be sure you had realistic expectations of what the surgery could do and the lifestyle changes you would have to implement post-op.
I'm really sorry this road block has been thrown up in front of you.....I hope it goes fast for you OR you have good luck investigating other surgeons.

Wow, I'm sorry about that. "Back in the day", when I had my surgery, all you needed was documentation of dieting attempts, not an immediately prior to surgery diet attempt.
The advice of the others who posted here is good.....it will all work out in the end. Good luck, and I hope the time goes quickly for you.

Hi Bonnie
I didnt have to go threw this but Cira did and she hung in there and just found out today she was approved and it only took 2 days( you can find her on the post omg omg omg a few down from here). I'm sure she can give you some insight on what she felt and stuff. Things happen for a reason and when it is your time it will happen. Keep our head up and I'll be sending prayers your way
Hugs

Bonnie,
Yeah, it was probably the insurance company requesting this (like Mo said). I don't get it, first of all if we could diet properly for 6 months we wouldn't need surgery! Thankfully I didn't have to do any pre op diet. I had comorbidities and letters in support from all my doctors and they even specified that I had followed certain diets over the years and just failed at them.
